10th overall picks don’t typically come in and dominate right away, let alone drop 34 and 25 in any single games. If they were thought to be immediately dominant they wouldn’t have been picked tenth. Katie Douglas took about 5 or 6 years to average 16 a game and I’d say Nurse physically profiles favorably to Katie Douglas. Similar in the sense that she’s not a quick penetrator but can still do it using strength, length and angles. Similar in that she also has a good step-back jumper. And definitely a better shooter and better foot speed. Probably also profiles as a better defender long-term due to the longer strides and more explosive lateral movement. Taking nothing away from the greatness of Douglas but if you compare both players as rookies, Nurse’s rookie year definitely merits an edge
Getting players like Atkins 7 and Nurse 10 are great pickups relative to draft position. There’s plenty of years where picks 7 and/or 10 are barely impactful. Occasionally they’re off rosters in two years or less.
Barring injury, Atkins and Nurse are going to play for a long time.
