Thanks for posting ODU. I was thinking about the Monarchs. i might add Inga Nissen, at least to the honorable mention list.

Damn. That list just makes you Shocked at how good the players that used to come through USC were. It's a shame that program has fallen so far.

Not sure I'd agree with several of those

PG-Spoon (though Mulkey could make an argument)
SG-Angela Turner
C-Venus Lacy or Pam Kelly
SF-Nora Lewis
PF-Lawrence

Rutgers

PG: Tasha Pointer
SG: Cappie Pondexter
SF: Essence Carson
PF: Sue Wicks
C: Tammy Sutton-Brown

Yes, I have a bias towards the CVS era, but she's had the best teams.

Cappie and Sue are obvious. You could argue about the point if you like Matee Ajavon or maybe about whether to go with TSB or Kia Vaughn at center. Carson's there because she was the quintessential defender of the CVS era. Piph might have had a shot at the list if she'd played all four years, but she would have been competing with Cappie.

This lineup includes RU's #1, #2, #11, #19 and #20 all-time scorers (Wicks, Pondexter, Pointer, Carson, TSB), #1, #12 and #14 rebounders (Wicks, Carson, TSB), #1 and #6 in assists (Pointer, Pondexter), #1, #2 and #10 in steals (Pointer, Wicks, Pondexter), #1, #5 and #9 in blocked shots (Wicks, TSB, Carson), #1, #2, #5 and #10 in free throws made (Wicks, Pondexter, Pointer, TSB) and #1 in 3-point percentage (Pondexter).

I did not see Chris Moreland play, so I left her off of the team, but she was the best low-post player in Duke history.

I posed the same question on the RU board, and got some interesting responses.

Not everyone agrees with me, but everybody likes Sue and Cappie

Thought about her. Love her, but who does she replace. She played PF and she's certainly not better than Lobo, Bascom, Cash, or Jones. Maybe better than Berube, but I went with my old school fav for the last spot on my 4 teams.

I say Jones at the 5 and Turner at the 4. Turner in my opinion was better than Tamika Williams

Purdue is really hard, because basically all of the best players have been wings.

Something like:

PG: Ukari Figgs
SG: Steph White
SF: Katie Douglas
PF: Stacey Lovelace
C: Leslie Johnson

Leaving Shereka Wright and MaChelle Joseph off seems all kinds of wrong.

Collegiately, I think I would have to go with Wisdom-Hylton at the 4 and Lovelace at the 5

Couldn't go wrong with LWH, but Johnson was just a beast during her time at Purdue. I did mean to put her at PF and Lovelace at C though.

Another wing that you discussed and one of the most productive players in Purdue history would be Katie Gearlds

Gearlds had a good career for sure, but watching her and White, Douglas, Wright, and Joseph, she really isn't in the same category. But certainly a really good player at Purdue.

Joseph was a point guard wasnt she?
PG: Figgs / Joseph
SG: White / Gearlds
SF: Douglas / Wright
PF: Wisdom-Hylton / Johnson
C: Lovelace / Cooper

What you think?

Maybe she was and I am remembering wrong. I didn't get to see her play very much and was awfully young when I did. As a volume scorer I wouldn't want her as the point guard on my all-time team if I was actually putting it on the floor.

I would probably list Joy Holmes before Gearlds (I always felt like Gearlds contributed less than the sum of her stats while great players contribute more, but that might just be me), but you can't go wrong with either choice. Looking at that list of players makes me really sad about where this program has gone in recent years.

MaChelle only played point her soph. year. The ball was in her hands a lot though.

Joy Holmes was a three most of her time at Purdue.

Another one that might make the list is Jannon Roland.

Jacqueline Batteast was a Big East POY and All-American, but Peters' defense and willingness to do the dirty work puts her over the top here.

I might consider moving Diggins back to the two spot and put in Niele Ivey at the point.
