Yes. The Supreme Court of the US has spoken. Your LITERAL property, your home and the real estate that you own, maybe for generations, is fair game for every city and county government answering to the desires of private developers, AS IF the connections between local governments and wealthy developers isn't and hasn't been the source of corruption and sweet deals here in the US since time immemorial. AS fucking IF! Now you hand these very people the keys to the kingdom. Property rights, in this case, are an inconvenient roadblock that must be eliminated by law when they stand in the way when the wealthy among us want more.
But intellectual property that belongs to the most corrupt industry in the history of the world and property which itself was almost surely all but stolen from the writers and performers who created it?
That must be protected, people!
The bottom line regarding this ruling is this. If you get there first in this country, that is to congress and the government and you pay off enough politicians and push enough starlets and call girls into the beds of enough congressmen and justice department officials, and you do this for decades and decades and decades, you can create through the law of the land a media empire that is, in every way, untouchable.
When the government came after the movie studios in the 40s (and 50s) for operating as a monopoly Hollywood sat back and said, "Okay, now how do we get back to monopolizing the entertainment industry and how do we prevent this government from ever bothering us again?" And they've never stopped working behind the scenes and THROUGH the government to do just that._________________
