SDS is gonna be their first signing right? I feel like her marketability with Steph Curry would be reason enough. I wonder if we could see anyone like Tina Charles or Chennedy Carter reappear in the league. I feel like they are going to put together a solid roster, not good enough to make the playoffs, get the #1 pick in 2026.

“As such, Lacob said, the new franchise is likely to be known as "Golden State" to reflect a fan base across the entire Bay Area. However, internal discussions will continue over the next few months on whether it will be called the Warriors or by another name, as well as around uniforms and logos.”
Why is it even a question of whether or not they’d keep the team name Warriors? |
It sounds like they are suggesting the European Club model where both the NBA and WNBA team would be called Golden State Warriors? That would be confusing and draw a lot of ire from the already unpleasant NBA fans.

From what Joe just stated they will be looking for a name so warriors most likely will not be the name. They stated they should have one soon , and Prez just said the 14th Team will be playing by 2025 as the goal as well so a 2nd team is coming soon !!

I am pumped for this. I am a Warriors fan and remember the effort Joe put into the Lasers. It will be interesting to see what he and his organization can accomplish with the franchise. |

I asked Chat GPT "What would be a good name for a WNBA team based in the Bay Area?"
Quote: |
Some possible names for a WNBA team based in the Bay Area are:
Bay Area Blaze: This name reflects the fiery and passionate spirit of the region and its people, as well as the diverse and vibrant culture and cuisine. It also evokes the image of a blaze, a bright and intense flame that could symbolize the team’s skill and determination. The name Blaze is also similar to the name of an existing NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers.
Bay Area Bridges: This name refers to the iconic bridges that connect the different parts of the region, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, and the San Mateo Bridge. It also suggests that the team is a bridge between different communities and backgrounds, and that they can overcome any obstacle or challenge. The name Bridges is also similar to the name of an existing WNBA team, the New York Liberty.
Bay Area Breeze: This name captures the cool and refreshing climate of the region, especially near the coast and the bay. It also implies that the team is calm and composed, and that they can breeze through their opponents with ease and grace. The name Breeze is also similar to the name of an existing WNBA team, the Chicago Sky. |

Wish they would go with Monarchs. So the Monarchs legacy can live on.

I want the Monarchs back, but not bad enough to root for the Golden State Monarchs.

Good list...um...Golden State Grind definitely evokes that thing that two adults do with their bodies when they're attracted to each other. So, I'mma vote no on that one.
