It's nice to have a world cup with no "bad guys." Sounds like the stadium is cheering for every good play by either team. USA has lots of fans there and plenty of people who love the Japanese women's team bringing that country a good story. One of the players lost her house in the earthquake and knew three people who were killed in the quake/tsunami.

Such a different game from the US/Brazil game.

I knew this game couldn't end without a Wambach header for a goal...

That said, if NY can't beat TUL, NY should be thrown out of the league Razz

Don't forget that they're playing in Germany.

Even better. A country wanting to recover from having the most prolific mass murderer of modern times. They could use every infusion of positive energy that comes their way. It's all good.

And back to the OT topic of soccer:

Abby Wambach! Of course there had to be an Abby Wambach header goal in the Final! 2:1 in 2nd extra period, dwindling down.

Well, a smart Red Card by Japan...... No dirty play, Alex Morgan would have scored the winning goal. Confused

If I believed in God, I'd say this is his way for punishing the US for Cappie. Rolling Eyes
But since I don't - awesome win by Japan!

Sorry for the US team, congratulations to the Japanese team. They won it fair and square.

I've got family in Japan now - there's a lot of celebration going on over there - a wild Monday morning (The game started at 1 am Tokyo time).

Crying or Very sad

Congratulations to Japan, in a time full of hardships this soccer team has given their people something to smile about. If the US had to come up short on this fairy tale, I am happy Japan served as the antagonist. Now it is time to gear up for London '12.

Nice to see people conversing about women's pro soccer. What would really be nice is if everyone was doing it in the actual WPS forum. (And I don't want to hear the few comments about it not being up to someone's perception of an active thread/forum. Cause as they say in the South that's just ass backwards lol.) Some Rebkellians repeatedly requested a WPS forum. Now we have one...so let's use it.

Why not turn the WPS forum into an ALL Other Sports forum?

or simply a women's soccer forum.

the other women's sports of softball, ice hockey & football don't seem to be talked about much here.
