Blue Demons Edge Demon Deacons 84-81

Sammy Mejia scored a season-high 24 points -- including a basket to answer a late Wake Forest run in the final seconds -- and DePaul beat the 16th-ranked Demon Deacons 84-81 on Tuesday night to snap their 21-game home winning streak.

The Demon Deacons had not played since a 78-59 win over Elon on Dec. 3, and didn't practice as a team last week due to exams. They looked rusty from the start, struggling to match up with Mejia and Burns while getting outrebounded for the first time this season.

Yeah, but I'm sure some students live within driving distance of Winston-Salem. Plus, I think grad/professional students would still be around.

When the cameras focused in on the crowd, I thought ESPN was doing a documentary on a retirement village rather than broadcasting a college game from Lawrence Joel Arena.
