How about their Eff defense, aka how many eff'n points do they allow? Wink I kinda played around with that a few years back, but couldn't really come up with anything that was really much better than RPI as far as predicting winners of games, retro or current.

I messed up eff when I sorted, but even still, the defense isn't in the WNBA formula I used.

I actually like PT/FGA as a benchmark, then adjust per team comparison, like rebound margin, TO's, FGA's, etc.

I know the Rutgers offense can usually be summarized by "WHAT offense?!", but I'm sure we've scored *some* points to our field goals attempted.

{edit: Hmmmmm, okay, pilight pointed out that they haven't played yet this year, which makes it a bit difficult to score (though not MUCH harder than in the "offense"), but then the question shifts to why are they on the list?}

Rutgers hasn't actually played a game yet. They open tomorrow against North Florida (go ASun teams!).

Just to clear this up(Rutgers) I started with the coaches poll this week and went with stats posted on each school site. If I had left them out, I imagine the Rutgers folks would complain about that Shocked

I think except for the few schools who have already played ranked teams, the numbers are fairly meaningless. I like Pts/FGA because it accounts for getting to the FT line as a team or an individual.
