Sorry you're getting such an ugly game. I'm surprised. these are two of my very favorite teams to watch.

Have you seen MSU's Haynee before?

Spartans are doing a great job of denying McCarville the ball. If they can keep that up they should run away from the Gophers.

Nope, haven't seen Haynie play before. Her draft stock has skyrocketed in her senior year so I am quite curious.

Speaking of ugly games, thank goodness Rutgers beat Villanova. I'd really hate to watch the halfcourt plod. Rutgers can be ugly but I love watching Cappie and Chelsea and the press can be fun to watch.

Janel is having a Diana vs. Notre Dame in Final Four type-game. 1-16...ouch.

I think MSU will pull it out.

brutal. Bolden did to Haynie what she has done to so many other great perimeter players -- made her look human, even subpar. McCarville was just bad. Michigan State looked nowhere near as good as they did when they beat us here. We looked nowhere near as good as yesterday.

Maybe they both just figured out how to defend the other. For MN, the plan is to forget about 1-2-3 positioning and just put your best defender on Haynie. For MSU, the plan is to play a collapsing 2-3 zone. Both plans worked.

Or maybe they were both just tired.

I just saw the tape (yeah yeah only now). I was impressed by MSU's D but also, Minnesota doesn't have the tools to beat MSU. They rely too much on inside scoring and don't have enough perimeter firepower/slashers. Janel was forcing it but I don't blame her because Minny doesn't have much else offensively. MSU will face a much sterner challenge in their bracket and while they're good, it would not surprise me to see them knocked out as early as Sweet 16 because I think their offensive execution is a bit too spotty.

I think Haynie will make a nice backup point guard in the WNBA.

I like watching her play (except against Janel!) but I have doubts about her in the W-- she's slow, and has a limited shooting range. I can imagine her as a kind of specialist, coming off the bench to help shut down teams that rely on the post for most of their points (Minnesota, Sacramento) but I have a hard time seeing her making an impact. I hope I'm wrong. I know she's been working on her speed and conditioning.

On the other hand, people used to think Shawntinice Polk a potential first-rounder, and they are in some ways similar players, though Arizona asks Polkey to do more (against, mostly, worse opponents); right now Roehrig seems better than Polkey (though Polkey's not a senior).
