I believe Texas Tech is 1-2. They beat someone over the weekend. But jeez, this is horrible. What was the story of this upset?

So who beats Baylor in the Big 12?

Watched Texas playing Sam Houston State for a half, but it was unwatchable other than for partisans. Texas looked ugly, but must have won by 50. I have no adjective to describe SHS.

Kim and Sophia may be on a clear path.

Rice 32 free throw attempts
Tech 12 free throw attempts

With 1:30 remaining in the game, Tech had 10 fouls in the second half, Rice had 9 fouls in the game.

I didn't see the game, and have no idea if the officiating was horrible or not ...

But generally, the first thing I suspect when I see a major free-throw discrepancy is that the team that shot the most free throws was quicker and/or smarter than the opposition (usually quicker). In the course of a 40-minute game, most of the time the calls even out, and seldom are they that tilted.

Skip Caray used to broadcast Atlanta Hawks' games only for TBS, and then they started doing national games. 'It's amazing how much better the officiating is,' he said, 'when you don't care who wins.'

Officials don't hate teams or care all that much about coaches and uniform colors. They have good days and bad days, and some are better than others. But they are not biased, and a 32-12 free-throw disparity is about 10 times more likely to mean Texas Tech was playing bad defense or was outquicked all over the floor than the officials were out to get them.

Well, the Rice players are probabaly as "smart" as any group in the country, since you have to be extraordinarily academically able to even fill out the book that serves as the entrance application to go there.

I don't know about the quick part, but what an exciting win for the Lady Owls.

Rice had a good game plan to contain TT's guards, and better used their post plares. Several of TT's big scorers did not. Here's a link to coverage of the game: http://www.redraiders.com/stories/112205/wbb_112205009.shtml
