I hope they will be able to find suitable investors for 2012 and beyond. This is starting to not look so good for the WPS, but I'm glad the teams that are still around appear to be going strong and have owners than are dedicated to the WPS.

Pathetic. This failure is more than just not having investment for 2011 but instead goes to the root of the club and the league. Before kicking off in 2009, there should have been a realistic plan and funding in place over a 5-year time frame. And it isn't like they play in the boondocks--they play in freaking Chicago. if you can't market yourself in such a rabid sports town that is Chicago (third largest in the country) you shouldn't have started with the league. I'm not from Chicago, but I would for damn sure expect a professional team to bring in AT LEAST 10,000 a game in a city that large.

Not being able to market yourself out of a paper bag has been the league's problem from the get-go. I can only hope Chicago can pulls it's head out of its ass and be able to come back in 2012.

I would like to see both Chicago & LA return in 2012 and really feel Seattle & Denver should have teams by then, too. This league needs to get it's sh!t together quickly or there won't be a 2012 season.

They play(ed) in Bridgeview, a Chicago suburb. And the costs to rent Toyota Park are significant.

You do realize that the USWNT didn't get 10k for their do or die qualifier held in Chicago in Nov. At this point, no women's soccer team that charges attendance in the USA will average 10k. (Portland gets close but they don't charge everyone...)

I don't disagree that the individual team marketing and national marketing hasn't been hugely impressive.

CRS also had an investor lined up until the news of the Cali team folding broke. That investor then backed out.
