I missed the taped coverage today, took a nap. But I noticed they were streaming this event live at LPGA.com. So if you are up early, early, check it out tomorrow morning.

Pressel tied for the lead after one round with a six under 66. Wie shot 4 under 68 after exiting mid round of the pro am yesterday.

Boy, I did some checking where this place is, this is the place to watch a golf tourney, definitely on the bucket list, the French side of lake Geneve.

This is really a fifth major with a purse equal to the U.S. Open, most comparable to The Masters, it's an invitational co-sanctioned by the LPGA and LET. They only started 111 players and the first prize is less than the Open due to no cut. This is fair, if you want the best women to fly in from around the world you need to cover their expenses.

I think I will try to drive around the place on Google maps.

ETA:

Quote:
EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France -- In France a short drive from Geneva is Evian-les-Bains, the quaint, charming spa town nestled along the lake with the mountains of the Haute Savoy rising dramatically behind. Evian lives and breathes its Masters with banners, champions photos, festivities and Evian Pink everywhere.

An LPGA-LET co-sanctioned event, the Evian Masters, in its 17th year, has grown enormously in the last decade, not only in prize money but also in the size of the field. The 2010 edition has 111 selected players from all over the globe, including the top 24 players in the Rolex Women's World Ranking. Even though the event isn't a major championship, its purse of $3,250,000 is tied with the U.S. Open for the richest prize pool in women's golf.

Many feel that the Evian Masters Golf Club is France's flowering answer to Augusta National with its vibrant geraniums, fuchsias, and other pink blooms. The course's beauty adds to the tournament's status, though Thursday's occasional showers, along with cloudy and humid weather didn't make for ideal viewing conditions.

I suppose I gave you the redneck version of a Golf Digest writer.

The imagery, photos available at the event website are the best in women's golf.

This is a great leaderboard.

Pressel eagled 18, not sure how she did it, coverage is still going.

But, you have on top,

Pressel
Shinn
JJ
Bam Bam

This is a great leader board, four major champions, it makes a strong argument, and we are not done yet, this course can give up a low round, to anybody, but assuming one of the four wins, I think the LPGA needs to take a long hard look at designating this event as a Major.

Who set the rule that a major equals 4?

As far as handicapping, that is easy, you pick Shinn. Her rounds on Sundays are, well, fucking low.

My dark horse is Bam, she is my adopted favorite player these days and the number you watch with her is fairways hit. She ranks 138 in that number, but this week she hit 25 already, she hits 8 or 9 tomorrow, she wins the damn thing I think.

This is REALLY getting good folks. Thompson, the flipping 15 year old is right there folks...

ETA: The kid was just one shot back going into 16, she made bogey. Then she came right back and birdied 17, one shot back. 18 is a par five and she hooked her tee shot so she had to lap up. So she hit her third about 20 feet under the hole. Drained that fucker just as cool as one could be. I'm not a big fan of this kid's swing, but she can flat out putt. Period. I was hoping she could give herself an eagle try because I figured she would make it.

It won't be good enough, Shin or Pressel will get it to at least 14 under.

Shin and Pressel teed up at 18 tied at -13. they both layed up right next to each other. Both hit their approach shots in about 12 feet. Shin putted first and drained it. Pressel lipped her putt out.

Shin wins, this was some great golf!

I suspect that if she's standing there, her drive didn't go where she wanted it to. Laughing
