The first story, is this tournament is making a comeback after a disagreement with the past commissioner over fees and dates. Why in the heck with all the earlier open dates did ShopRight pick the the same week as the men's US Open?

15 year old Alexis "Lexi" Thompson makes her pro debut. She made a bunch of noise yesterday literally driving up to the clubhouse and putting green in the Red Bull NASCAR show car.

Paula Creamer makes her return after surgery on her left thumb. She has only been hitting balls again a bout a week and can't hit very many.

Amateur Joanna Coe, a local product qualified on Monday against a dozen pros to get a spot in the event. On the surface you would think this is a fluke, but then you look into her resume. She was a star on her HS boys team. She won the Division II Individual and Team Championship as a freshman. She holds scoring and assist records at her high school in soccer. She was a semi-finalist in last years Womens Amateur Public Links.

Yet I checked and she is only the 66th ranked amateur in the country. Looking at her college scores, she has won 8 tournaments but her scoring average is 73.81. What I noticed in this kid is she tends to play her best in big events. So I'll be watching her scores with interest.

This is a good story.

Should be a good week and it looks like the timing will allow to see both mens and womens golf this week. That might be why the LPGA chose this week, they will get prime golf channel coverage and the Men's event will not really get started (Pebble Beach) until late Saturday and Sunday (back nines).
