This league has to be in big trouble; thank goodness for Colorado!

Attendance this week:
Colorado - 1,694 Very Happy
Birmingham - 239 Shocked
San Jose - 200 Shocked
Chicago - 205 Shocked

Lubbock just moved to a High School from a college to cut costs, and is travelling on a road trip with only 6 players. Sad

When you add in the $50k per year franchise fee, not a good investment huh? That's why the Spirit couldn't continue operations this year.

It's hard to believe that Chicago can't bring in more with Tamika there. Naperville is such a cool town too. You'd think they'd know about the team.

To go one step further, they show YTD attendance as 34 games, 35,687 people.

Colorado has had 9 home games, for 17,137, so the REST OF THE LEAGUE has 18,550 for 25 games. An average of 742 people!

742 people x 10 per ticket = $7,420.

$7,420 x 12 home games = $89,040.

It costs $50,000 just to have a team. That would leave you just under $40,000 to cover the players, the gym, the travel, your coaches, your staff and personnel, and general operating expenses.

Think there are profits going to the team owners?

i think that must depend a lot on sponsorships. in general, tho, i doubt anyone is making money... even colorado. the league has always been a farce. i would much rather see these women going overseas. of course, it might not be good for their social lives, but it would likely be better for their game.
