With the constant reports of the epidemic of obesity in America and the strain on the health system that is causing then why the hell are fast food chains creating larger and larger portion sizes? Self-control (which I am a proponent of but not the best practitioner) can only go so far. People like to think that they are self governing, self-motivated, not prone to suggestion but given the right pitch you can sell a penthouse apartment to an acrophobic. I know its all about the profits for the companies but there is a bigger picture to be taken into consideration.

Supply & Demand. People want larger portions, so the fast food chains give it to them.

It worries me no end, believe me - the epidemic of eating crap, not exercising and being apathetic towards all of the above.
