What do Fever fans think of that? I have nothing but respect for Nat, but her numbers have been dropping steadily. It just seems as though there are better investments to be made out there.

It's a tough call. Everybody in Indy had down numbers last year, that's just the way it is under Winters. Nat still has game and would command a high price on the FA market, so you can't just let her walk.

Coring Nat was the only way that Indiana could guarantee Nat would be with the team next year. She is a veteran who would be making at or near the max regardless of where she went, but if she were not cored she could sign with someone else. She may have only signed for one year. And Indiana wouldn't have to core her next year if they didn't feel they were getting their value.

At this point in some of the veteran careers, I wonder if they would sign for less if they were to get a guaranteed multi-year offer.
