SITTING ON THE BENCH???????
DAMN, you didn't see the same series I did. I watched her drive the Sun freaking nuts out there, sending Lindsay flying head over heels, making plays under the basket. She was crucial when Bird's head was missing during part of the finals.
Use your stats like 3pt % pilight, I'll take the ring and the defense. No way, if I'm looking at the now, not the future, do I take Kelly over Tully as a backup PG.
Now if I need a combo that can switch between 1 and 2, maybe, but not just as a backup PG.

pilight's points regarding Bevilaqua statistically are right on the nose, however, I have to wonder if the Storm would have gotten past the Lynx when Bird's beak was broken without Tully's leadership on the floor and from the bench throughout the season. Lauren played as well with her on the floor as if Sue was in the game the entire time during the playoffs.
She also did yeoman's duty at the one with Bird at the two during the Championship series. Tully is one of the best sixth persons off the bench and I still see her as a spark plug and defensive nusance off the bench where ever she ends up.

Pilight's right. Tully does bring a certain swagger, though.

Tully is the Aussie Debbie Black. She got a ring because she was on a team with a bunch of great players.

Hmm, one of these players actually started for a title team. The others can't start even on mediocre teams...

Speaking of Ukari Figgs, Indiana should find a way to get her as the starting point guard. Now THAT would solve the team's problems, plus bring a former Purdue star back to the state.

I believe Ukari got the job at Toyota before she decided to play for the Comets.

Toyota was letting her play in the W and sort of holding her position for her as far back as when she was at Portland.
I think she is in an engineering dept - a hard job to leave behind.

Hmmm... an engineering job with a company willing to hold a place for her, or a point guard for Van - I wonder which career would be the more rewarding one

Tully was second in the WNBL in 3 point shooting. She's in the best shooting form of her career.
I'm a bit sad Tully is leaving the Storm but also glad to see that she's in demand. She was the best backup in the league last year and was probably better than a couple of the lower tier starters. |
