Given all the injuries. I have started to think that we should tank the season to be in the Lottery, but didn't we give our first round draft pick to WASH?
So if we tank the season and win the Lottery, doesn't WASH get it?
Double damn!!
So, now my lament is to fight to #2 or #3 in the Western Conference so that we do not face Sac in the first round. By the time the playoffs roll around, we will be back to full strength (with our injuries behind us and on a roll) and we can vanquish the other #2 or #3, then rear our heads and face Sac for the Western Conference Finals and come out the WINNER.
At this point, their is no way we will lose the WNBA CHAMPIONSHIP! Hopefully, the SUN play will have reached its full potential NOW ... not in Sept!
That is my mantra that is in my head!
GO SPARKS. GO LISA. GO MABIKA. GO UNIQUE. GO WHITMORE. GO NIKKI-T. GO BENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

You gave them your first round pick from this year. |

So, we can tank and possibly get a good first round pick? Our only first round pick that makes a difference on this team has been Christi Thomas. It would be great to get another one.
There is always a way to look on the positive side.
Damn all the injuries. But, I relooked at the box score and saw that Macchi is playing. Maybe, we have an opportunity to make a late season push. How cool would that be.

At this point I think the players would rather push Bibby out of his coaching spot, than push themselves into the playoffs.

Los Angeles will be in a better position when they can dump Whitmore after this year. That frees up a lot of money...

Sparkfan33,
There are two things a Sparks fan can do:
1.) Drive six hours east to a Mercury game
2.) Drive six hours north to a Monarchs game

I thought only Anne Meyers blamed the Sparks dismal season on injuries.
The Sparks don't need a top pick unless Pat Summit's going to be in the draft.
Okay I'm out of pithy one liners.
Okay here's another one.
Can't we all just GET ALONG, without the Sparks? _________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |

Why do they need to tank? They're already getting blown out of every game.

Do players get paid extra for playoffs?

"Here's some WNBA player salary and contract info from 2004:
June, 2004: The minimum WNBA salary for players with 0-3 years of experience is $30,600 and for players with 4 or more years of experience it's $43,700. The maximum WNBA salary is $87,000. 2004 WNBA Rookies make somewhere between $41,000 and $34,000. Players on the team that wins the WNBA championship each get a bonus of $10,000. Players on the runner-up team each get $5,000."

i don't think i ever heard of anyone getting paid extra before the championships. but you'd think they'd at least fly them first-class to their games . . .

what on earth is the problem with LA?
LL's subpar year?
Are they missing DeNasty? Doesn't Coleslaw more than compensate in terms of offense and defense as compared to DeNasty?
Teasley has been nowhere near to what she was a season or two.
Whitmore runs hot and cold but she's contributed. esp as a banger.
dunno what is up with them.

Keep dreaming. This is Penny Toler. Los Angeles wants Miko a lot more than she wants them and if she says she wants to stay, she won't be making that much less if any. Your best bet is a sign and trade at Miko's request but LA's not rushing to dump her after the season she's been having. Considering the situation and the circumstances, there are a bunch of other players on the Sparks that need to be dumped. |

After watching last night's game, I think the main problem for LA is a lack of teamwork, or more accurately, individual play.
They didn't seem to be working together much at all. Is that the result of the coach's style, or the result of conflicting personalities? In that regard, I did notice a nice Holdsclaw-to-Leslie alley-oop pass, but otherwise, there seemed to be a lack of ball movement. I never pictured Holdsclaw as a ball hog before, but she seemed to be taking it all on her shoulders last night.

I agree. And I find its funny that they're still playing this way without Teasley and Dixon. Tamecka and Nikki are usually the two players on that team that do the most one on one stuff. But with out them, everyone else is doing it too.
