When Catchings scores in single digits this season, the Fever are 5-0.

When she scores in double digits, they are 7-7.

It seems as though this year when Catchings has a bad game, a few others have great games. Whether its Tan, Kelly, Deanna, Jurgita, or someone else. Others seem have good games. But its a weird stat. Maybe Catchings should score in single digits more often Laughing

That is indeed a strange stat.
With the best interests of the Fever at heart, I would suggest they bench Catch after her first basket the next time they're in Phoenix, just to make the victory absolutely certain Wink

There's always the chance that it's just a fluke, but it does make you wonder about possible explanations.

Off the top of my head . . .

1) When Catchings isn't scoring, the rest of the team feels more urgency to step it up and usually more than one player does.

2) When Catchings isn't scoring, it makes her more determined than other to do everything else she can for the team, e.g., play defense with even more intensity than usual, if that's possible, and that makes a difference in the close games the Fever have been playing.

3) When other teams focus on shutting Catchings down, it opens up more opportunities for other players. It makes you wonder whether it's a better defensive strategy for opponents to play the team straight up, rather than focusing, on Catchings.

Catchings 12 points at the half today... a bad sign for Indiana?
