She has to be the underachiever of the year.
I'd rather watch Braxton make rookie mistakes and gain experience than watch 00 do 0

OK, it was my first time this season to see the Shock live, and they were thoroughly enjoyable.
As the Storm players were being introduced, the Shock reserves, who were already standing, began to do synchronized stepping from side to side in two lines. This was happening right in front of me and I was dyin laughin.
Thank you, Bill, for starting Sheila Lambert in her hometown in the presence of her family members and friends.
I really thought they were gonna do it when Nolan went on that run. She just couldn't miss, and the boards! Woman's still got the hops I've dug for so long. The Shock went ice cold at the end of the second, though. What is up with that? One of my friends/seat mates thinks it's a mental thing. They sure don't lack for talent.
The coach sets the tone for the team, and I can't think of another ball club where this is more obvious. Laimbeer was getting in the ref's faces, but his right hand woman is Swin. She's really animated. At one point she had to go to the bench and she was walking from teammate to teammate talking loudly about how the refs were fucking up and what they need to do to start beating Storm ass. She was also going after the refs like a pitbull. Funniest moment of the whole game was when they called a foul on her, and she was standing right next to, I think, Farris. Ref Gulbeyan was in between them and Bill, and they both take a step toward him. Bill holds up his hand and waves them off as in, "I got this," and they both take a simultaneous step back.
It was pointed out to me by a young homey that Braxton looks just like a friend of mine. She's a good player with mad potential.
Good effort by two former champs. I dig close games and hate blowouts, even when the team I want loses.

Only able to catch glimpses of this game while at the office...
officiating appeared horrendous...
embarrassing for our league to have such bad officials working a national tv game!

It was MOST of those fouls those players didn't even touch the person they "say" was fouled.

The best was during the time out, when it was 71-71, and Donovan was mic'd up:
Quote: |
"Betty, Betty, We're going to you. We're going to you."
"OK Sue, Sue, this is you, you set a screen for Suzy. Suzy you screen for..."
Then the broadcasters cut away to Laimbeer in the huddle... |
Now I know the TV is on a 3 to 7-second delay, but still! I'm suprised the Detroit staff didn't tell their players that info... Even more amazing is that SEA usually runs that play in similar late game situations anyways... and Betty still got it off! Go Betty...
I guess Donovan isn't as savvy as Laimbeer when mic'd up. Laimbeer was jawing with the refs like he was on a reality show, which was also why he got a lot of entertaining camera time, lol. Even during that same timeout, Laimbeer acted like he knew he was mic'd up and described the play he wanted run accordingly:
Quote: |
"Swin, this is you. Bink, this is you. Here (draws a line on the dry-erase board), here (draws a line on the dry-erase board), there (draws a line on the dry-erase board)..." |
