thanks for the update, pilight.

apparently they are looking at playing in the UIC Pavilion. It holds about 9,500, which is a good size for us right now.

Also, the team would have no affiliation with the Bulls, which is a good thing.

Getting a good team in the the third-largest market would be huge for the WNBA. I hope it works out.

I hope it works out too. It would automatically become my second favorite team.
I love Chi-town and we could get to see how an independent ownership (one that doesn't own a casino) would run the team without the backing of an NBA franchise.

Well the Bulls are finally moving on up, so don't count them out yet... Wish Luol Deng would give me more consistent VGMs though... But maybe they could compromise and the new team could get just Benny Da Bull to be their mascot. Idea

This got a mention on PTI. Wilbon thinks it's a good idea and the team should be the Chicago Hustle, which was the name of the WBL franchise there.

Is it really any more unlikely than most of the other WNBA mascots? Do the Fever have a guy with a thermometer hanging out his mouth as a mascot? If they did, would the Mercury have to borrow it? Do the Mystics have someone with a crystal ball telling fortunes on the sideline? Let's not even consider something as esoteric as the Liberty...

The Fever guy (Freddy Fever) doesn't have a thermometer sticking out of his mouth, but I once asked him if he was a virus or a bacterial infection (because I couldn't tell)

He just belched in response.
