FROM ESPN:

The Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks are in serious talks about a trade that would send Quentin Richardson and a conditional future first-round pick to the Knicks for Kurt Thomas two league sources said.

Herrade, think about it. Crawford, Starbury, and Q-Rich chucking the ball up?

They better get a 7 footer with 6 arms to play center for all those long rebounds and bricks going up.

Don't like it... but then again, I'm not a fan of using a 6'6" SF and a 6'7" PF... But I'm still not sure as to why they made this particular deal... Was it really the best offer? Question Richardson's salary is relatively modest ~$6.3mil, it's just the number of years (5)--but he's young, whereas Thomas is 35.

Moreover, PHO obviously wanted a center, but they get Thomas, who calls himself a PF and is only 6'9"? Shocked

Furthermore, PHO wants to reduce the payroll every bit so they can resign Joe Johnson, which is why they PHO basically gave away Zarko Carbarkapa for nothing (2 2nd round picks), because he was making $1.3mil. But Thomas will make $0.32mil more than Q-Rich next year, so that decreases the amount of money they can offer to JJ...

Lastly, Isaah Thomas better have some future trades in the works... Idea Otherwise, the chemistry will be even worse! I mean, who is he going to sign next? Antoine Walker and Ricky Davis? He's got a lot of high-volume shooters that score but do little else. Talent-wise, though, he's got several tradeable assets, but he's no collector like Paul Allen of old...

If we land him, who will be next? Kobe? I mean, all the ballhogs will be playing at MSG...

Kobe, Iverson, Francis... Hey, maybe Tamicha Jackson could be their backup point! Razz

I guess there's another reason why Thomas did this deal...

They're going to buy out Houston Arrow

DOLAN 'EM OUT
How James Dolan and Knicks will save big time by buying out Allan Houston:

THE CONTRACT
Houston is owed $39.8 million over the next two seasons.

THE WAY OUT
Under new CBA, Knicks have one-time option to buy out any player. Money still counts against the salary cap, but not luxury tax.

Allan Houston is my favorite Knick, I am for him moving on though. I can't stand the Knicks anymore, I hate that he's on that team. For some strange reason I can't stop watching their games when they are on TV though, I guess it's a NY thing with me. Rolling Eyes

Though it's probably better for Brandy... more music opportunities in NYC Idea For Quentin it'll sure be a drag though... NY press is tough and he wont be going anywhere with the Knicks Confused

Yes Shocked

Quote:
We all knew that one day the Big Three would be dismantled.

No one envisioned it would happen this way. Michael Finley is about to follow Steve Nash out of town, leaving Dirk Nowitzki as the only star left standing on the Mavericks' roster.

Nash's departure before last season made no sense. Finley's departure makes perfect cents.

The new one-time loophole allows a team to waive a player and be relieved of any luxury-tax responsibility attached to that player's contract. Finley is owed $51,796,875 over the next three seasons. Cuban would still have to pay that in salary.

PostPosted: 06/24/05 12:10 pm    ::: Kurt Thomas is an Avid Web Surfer! Reply Reply with quote

Quote:
Thomas, an avid Web surfer, said that he learned of the deal from the RealGM.com report and that his agent had confirmed the talks.

"I just know there's a deal on the table," Thomas said by cellphone from Dallas, his hometown. "I can't comment on anything until it's official. And it's not official yet."

Asked if he believed the deal would happen, Thomas said, "I think so."

Richardson, coincidentally, was in New York yesterday for a photo shoot.

What a way to find out...
