Quote:
Victoria's Kristi Harrower, the team's playmaker, was dribbling the ball as the team counted down the final seconds on Sunday. She looked across court to teammate Emily McInerny and nodded, having told McInerny before the game she would try to keep it if the Opals won.

As the buzzer sounded, 163-centimetre Harrower, called "Shrimpy" by teammates, saw the referee coming for the ball, so she ran to another part of the court. To no avail — he chased her and fought her for it, so there was nothing else to do but give in and run to teammates to celebrate their 91-74 win.

Harrower, 31, told the ball story yesterday when she limped from a plane at Tullamarine, an Esky of ice in her hand after constant treatment for an ankle sprained in the semi-final win over Brazil, so she can fit into her shoes for her wedding on Friday.

She will marry eight-year boyfriend Aaron Willoughby, 28, in her home town of Bendigo. He was there to hug her at Tullamarine and report that he had "worked out the suit and the grog, and that's it".

Kristi needed somebody for the assist with the game ball. How about a screen or two or some good Opals ball movement? A Jenny Whittle high screen of death would have worked a treat!

What a petty ref, Opals should have been allowed to keep the ball.

Just like in the WNBA - The officials think it's about THEM.
