Fans of Ossie Davis might be interested in the last few episodes of this seasons' L-word. We watched the season finale last night. Davis delivered another powerful perfomance in his recurring role as Melvin Porter, an accomplished man admired by many, but one who has made a mess of things with daughters Kit and Bette [Pam Grier and Jennifer Beals]. Porter never turns his back on his principles, but must find a greater courage when after deciding not to treat late stage cancer he must confront his daughters with the news and come to terms with their reaction to losing him.

We were shocked when the credits rolled and the words appeared. 'In tribute to Ossie Davis'. He died just two weeks after filming the episode.
