I never thought I’d see Rebecca Allen get ejected from a game.

The refs are terrible at calling the first foul on a sequence. If they called the first foul on a sequence, fewer players would feel the need to protect themselves.

Chicago’s Rebecca Allen and Connecticut’s Bria Hartley were ejected after they got into a shoving match in the second quarter. The Sky’s Ariel Atkins was also ejected for contact with an official. There was a lengthy delay while officials reviewed video of the incident.

Hartley standing over Allen with her right hand balled up into a fist. Shocked Shocked

Thankfully Rivers is there to stop her, or her season might be over!

I'm surprised Mabrey wasn't in the fray! When she was with the Sky, I would say "That's our thug!" I have to go back and watch this game - had an overlapping commitment.

Man...we were already strapped personnel wise - then to have two ejections, especially of folks I wouldn't think would be involved in such things? That's a hard one. What a shame...

What the USA Today article left out is why Allen was mad at Hartley which was Hartley catching her with an elbow at the other end which the refs ignored.

The refs admitted that they should have called Hartley's elbow to Allen's face. The explanation from one of the refs was that because there was a fight, the officials can go back to see what set it off. The fight allowed them to look back and assess Hartley a technical for the elbow to Allen's face. That was the in-game explanation after the review. I presume that they cannot go back and call a common foul for the elbow since another play transpired.

If the officials did their job, there would not have been a fight. Call the foul and then players don't feel like they have to take matters into their own hands.
