A spokesman for Biden has said that he hasn't had the PSA blood test to check for prostate cancer since 2014. Then I see an article that links to this page (below) which says that men over 70 should not get regular screenings. And it even says that men between 55 to 69 should make individual decisions about whether to be screened. What the hey? A few years ago my doctor told me that he (and I believe this was a medical profession or medical group decision) would no longer be doing the "manual screening" of the prostate and instead doing the PSA blood test. Now I have to see if I have gotten that when I do my blood work. I don't recall seeing the results.

I do remember hearing someone on the radio a long time ago saying that he didn't see a benefit to prostate screenings. He said the fast acting version of prostate cancer would be too far along when detected to be successfully treated and the slow acting version took so long to be lethal that it could be ignored.

Yeah, my doctors (whom I do trust and admire) were all wishy-washy about it for the past decade. Cuz I know too many guys that have died of it at a relatively young age, I just ask for the PSI as an add-on to routine bloodwork every so often.

I certainly wish him and his family well - it's not an easy path.
