I really don't know. I don't talk to them much, especially about politics. I am the youngest of seven having only 1 older brother who is liberal. I'm female in a misogynistic family. My voice has never counted. I am dismissed easily.
My liberal brother had a family get together January 18 to celebrate the family birthdays that occurred Oct-Jan. He gave wine gifts, I think the wine was called the Fall, he explained that it was in reference to the upcoming inauguration. One repub brother said everything will be fine. I often think about asking if he still thinks it is fine, but I'm a wimp who avoids conflict, especially in the dynamics of my family. I have reached out to my liberal brother (my buffer) to see if he has heard from the others. I will post it if he has. |
My brother's response: "Nope. I don't think they want a conversation. The dissonance is too great. I think they know how bad things are, but choose to believe it will not be so bad and the guardrails will hold. Then they shoot up some fox propaganda and fall asleep smiling."

| The general word from MAGAs is that his tariffs will create more US jobs. However, unemployment is currently rising rapidly and there's no plan in place to create more jobs. MAGAs also think that tariffs will replace sales tax and/or income tax. That didn't work prior to the Great Depression and it won't work now. Meanwhile, billionaires are expected to get their tax breaks almost immediately. This as the stock market dips for the third day in a row.
