This ranking reminds me of Mark Twain's admonition: “There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

But these percentages and turnovers dont lie ..... I remember a time a player was the leading scorer of the league as a rookie and did not win ROY based off her %'s and turnovers as well...lets see if the WNBA does that again this year with the GWH ? Clark is making 35.7% of her shots from the field and 29.7% from 3 as well as leading the league in Turnovers still.

ROY voters like scoring and nobody is close to Clark. The only other rookie averaging double digits has an even worse FG% than Clark

There have been three occasions in which ROY went to a player scoring under 10 ppg. In 2005 and 2021, when there were no rookies who scored that much, and in 2007, when the only double digit scoring rookie missed almost half the season (and still got nearly a quarter of the ROY votes).

In fairness, I think her "fandom" has also been co-opted by a ton of toxic individuals who have no real interest in her or in women's basketball other than attacking it.

Almost makes you not want to like her as a person until you realize , The kid has not said or done anything its that Cult Clan behind her Laughing Laughing . Does the apple fall from from the tree in this case ? Im not so sure Laughing

That's unfair. You never see Lebron addressing his fanbase nor any professional athletes. She's not responsible for HATER500's comments. And in return you never see other athletes like telling their fanbase to stop the toxicity. Just look at the hard foul by Alyssa Thomas against Reese. And Bonner had to defend Thomas about accusation of domestic violence. You can't control trolls. You're living in the world of social media.

As for her rookie season, it's not actually bad. She needs a real off season. Ain't going to happen this year.

I thought that quote was actually attributed to Benjamin Disraeli?

Interesting point, which I had to look up. Mark Twain wrote it and popularized it in his autobiography, where he did attribute it to Disraeli. But, according to Wikipedia, it seems no one really knows if the attribution to Disraeli is correct or who really said it first.

Funny about the statistics. I guess it's only a big deal if it's Clark (FG/TOS). Laughing

Yeah, those stats are hilariously cherry-picked, but I find it equally funny that there appears to be a contingent of people who have basically taken the position that, "The only stats that matter are whichever ones say Caitlin is the best!"

"This rookie class isn't even one of the best rookie classes in the last 10 years. But they've been put out to be that because of the way social media is today."

"She's just not built for the physicality of this league. And she's not quick enough to get away from the physicality. So there's a lot of learning curve like Diana said. And when she get's it, she has elite skills that are really gonna help her".

"Does she (Bueckers) have the build to play in the WNBA?"

"No. But her game is different. Her game is different than Caitlin's"

What's not fair about it , i stated she has not said anything but after seeing the tweets her boyfriend of years has been liking makes me wonder thats all. Why does everyone have to use a comparison in men's professional sports to justify the behavior of her cult base ? Lebron's fanbase would not make death threats or have state congressmen sending letters to the Commissioner over a hip check to a player in my opinion.

I am not always crazy about Geno's thoughts, but the "delusional fan base" descriptive phrase is the best description for the Caitlin Clark junkies so far. Wink

I even doubt that her "delusional fanbase" watched her games. You could see the difference.

Probably won't stop the uninformed/misinformed "fans", but Clark has addressed the hip check.

Quote:
“No, I mean basketball is competitive, I get it,” Clark said when asked if she thinks Carter owes her a public apology. “Sometimes your emotions get the best of you. It’s happened to me multiple times throughout the course of my career. People are competitive and it is what it is.”

Rather than rehash last Saturday’s incident, Clark shifted the conversation to praise Carter’s season. The Sky’s fourth-year guard is averaging 13.9 points off the bench while shooting a career-high 53 percent from the field.

“She’s having a tremendous season, she’s played great basketball in my eyes and is probably in first place for Sixth Player of the Year, she’s been great off the bench for them,” Clark said.

Articles upon articles on why leaving CC of the Olympic roster was the ultimate stupidity...

Tell me you know nothing about women's Olympic basketball and basketball in general without telling me you know nothing about women's Olympic basketball and basketball in general.

All of you disgusted by the incessant "delusional Caitlin mob" please share with me where you see all this? All I see here on RebKell is a toxic number of people who won't shut up about the "delusional Caitlin mob." The Caitlin mob is not posting here but those upset about them sure are. Over and over and all saying the same thing.

Seriously - where are you reading all this stuff that's getting you so upset you have to inundate THIS site with complaints about it?

First post I saw when I look at the "All Things WNBA" site on Facebook is a meme of Jennifer Risotti's justification for leaving Cailtlin off with the following comment: "Still bad decision if this FB group has over 50k people because of her. lmagine what a global presence of media would do not only for her but for this country and Wnba overall!!!"

There are people threatening boycotts and overwhelming the message boards with demands about what the WNBA and Olympic committees must do if they intend on keeping their newfound popularity. This included absolute outrage that not every one of Caitlin's games is on national TV...including pre-season. They basically came in and trash talked non-stop before people started reacting to them. People can only take so much of a group of new fans calling every single player in the league trash. Every single call against Caitlin generates claims of persecution by the league, by the referees, and by the opposing players. It's turned into a war. I think the Cultlins are responsible for it more than the so-called haters, but it's toxic all around now.

I am sure NBC is not happy about Clark being left off the Olympic team. Although Reeve would kept her on the bench throughout most of each blowout, people would have tuned in expecting to see her play.

Yeah, that has been my experience as well.
Mountains of ridiculous takes is one of the downsides of the league having all these brand new "fans"
