Second major conference vacancy filled. Second man replacing a woman.

Hope it's just two one-offs and not a trend developing.

I've never understood why my alma mater hasn't been better. A great place to recruit to, a nice facility (or at least it once was) and no football to compete with.

The right coach, I believe, could elevate the Gauchos quickly, but hiring a Rutgers assistant (so bad I've expunged her name from my memory) and a Midwest retread just made no sense.

Hopefully they do better this time ...

I remember about 20 or so years ago UCSB had a good program back when Mark French was the coach. They also had a decent fan presence in the W. BBall online community.

That's at least his second time, right?

I was concerned about the possibility of more women coaches being pushed aside especially as the women's game gains popularity, corporate support, etc. There are already more male coaches of D-1 NCAA WBB teams than there are female coaches (it's about 58-42%) but methinks the gap will grow and more women coaches will lose out on opportunities. We shall see.

It's a reversal of what we've seen the last few years

UC Riverside has Brad Langston has Interim HC. Not sure when this happened but definitely missed it. Nicole Powell was HC. Cannot find an article of when the change occurred.

Very strange. The offical website link to Nicole Powell is now a 404. It still lists Brad Langston as an assistant. Maybe it's happening now and they don't have a clean process for updating their website?

I read a post from somebody @LA Women's Hoops that said she hadn't been on the sidelines the whole season and that her contract ended this season. Strange not to see anything about her moving on or the job opening up. Nothing.

Dude's got his work cut out for him with his roster of 5 scholarship players & 2 walk-ons - and that's IF the 2 Freshman don't de-commit. #1 Priority should be convincing Ruby Whitehorn to stay. Beyond that, he better hit the portal damn hard.

It's no joke.

108-52, four 20-win seasons.

The bar is high in Knoxville.

Now I wonder who will leave with her....and who will stay. Jewel Spear had already announced that she was staying, but.....

I don't know that I have the energy to look this up, but I bet there are a lot of active wbb head coaches with a W-L record worse than 108-52

If they hire that frog faced Curry, I'm outta there. I'd prefer they break tradition and go after Wes Moore.

I think it's a shame. the sport has changed so much and the talent has spread out throughout the country. We won't have the long lasting destinies like the past. At this point, why would someone want to go there if that record isn't good enough?

I agree. I'm not a Harper fan but I kinda hope AD Danny White fails to find a better replacement. I suppose this is where we're heading as the stakes are getting higher in WBB.

Harper won’t have any issue finding a new job. She has had a really great run and the vast majority of programs would love to have a coach with her background take over their program.

Collen?
Yo?
Kara?

I would be in shock to see a man get the job.
