After Q1, Duke crunched OSU in shooting and on the boards. Does this reflect poorly on the strength of the B10 or positively on the increasing strength of Duke? Maybe a little of both.

Kelsey Mitchell is rolling over in her grave... Sami Prahalis is rolling over in her grave... Jantel Lavender is rolling over in her grave...

McGuff is a mediocre game coach that doesn't do well on short turnarounds. HE gets his results mostly in recruiting and he will use any slimy tactic he can to get the kids he wants. Getting outcoached by a studio analyst is totally in character for him.

All right Duke! (but let's go JMU and beat the Duke men)

Sammy Prahalis is not much of a coach. She was here as an assistant at JMU for a year (or maybe two) and the team hated her. She didn't do much either. Maybe she learned her skills(?) from McGuff.

Dang, Ohio State underperformed in both the conference and NCAA tournaments.

Duke pulled away late and Ohio State had four players with 33 or more minutes. Duke had none. Maybe they don't have enough in their rotation to win the more intense tournament games. Some teams also will play harder normally and can't step it up as much in the post season.

Samantha Prahalis was too busy watching St. John's shit away a ten-point lead to lose at Toledo.

(sigh, yes, we employ her)

(I'm not happy about this state of affairs)

TIL

Prahalis' coaching career is so unimpressive, it's not even included on her wiki page. As far as Wikipedia is concerned, she ceased to exist around 2015.

if only, if only

STB, we need to have words about the caliber of coaches y'all are sending up here (our head coach is a JMU alum)

Not responsible for your HC. Our former WBB is at VA Tech, who would have steamrolled Baylor if not for the unfortunate injury to Liz Kitley.

Impressive, *signature* kinda win for Kara. 😎

Having never been a McGuff fan since his days at Xavier, I can't say I felt too badly for him, but .... my heart ached for Jaycee Sheldon. Tough loss for a kid that so clearly has her heart and soul in this game. Hope she's got a bright future.

This sounds like a dig at Lawson, who is an excellent coach. I expect her to become one of the leading HC of the future.

Agreed. Also agree with the dig at McGuff. I don't think he's all that either, and skip the bag of chips. I'd love to ask Hevynne Bristow about him.

Lawson was one of the best studio analysts in the game and proved her knowledge of X's and O's there. She's now had a couple of years to show her coaching chops and is indeed a coach on the rise. Initially, the only thing top recruits knew was that Kara knew how to set up a team on the court so included Duke in their final list of teams but nobody committed to Duke. Now that Kara has shown she can manage players, teach the systems she develops for them and punch the right buttons to have the team ready for the big games in March, she's now getting the final commitment from top players.

We Duke fans don't really care when people take dogs at Coach Kara. We're just lucky to have her here. Especially after the nightmare decade we lived through. We know when we face UConn now, we won't have an offense or defense so easy to break down as we did then. Our players now know they have a coach setting them up to succeed on the court against anybody. We have a coach who studies film, learns the exact spots on the floor each player likes to shoot from and designs plays to get them to that spot ready to shoot.
