“This ruse included a practice player falsely representing himself as Love to a (hotel) desk clerk in order to obtain Love’s room key,” said the lawsuit, which was filed in federal district court in Nebraska. “It ended in two team members confronting Ashley in Love’s room. They reported their findings and showed their video recording to Williams.” |
When did practice players (I'm assuming a male) start going to away games?
And then there's this, from a Google search. I'm kind of surprised that her lawyer hasn't brought this up. It was the first thing I thought of.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a two-party consent state. This means that you must have explicit permission to record someone during a private conversation. This means that even if you record someone saying or doing something illegal, that recording may be thrown out as illegal evidence. |

I guess that it doesn't say that it was a secret recording or that she didn't know it was being recorded. Maybe it is OK.

The article I read (USA Today( said that teammates and practice players "concocted a scheme" to trap them. Maybe with Coach Williams' blessing? Doesn't make me think too highly of her, either, since it sounds like she was in on it. Esprcially since, after the incident in the hotel, Williams cast Scoggin in the role of "seducer and liar" (per the lawsuit), and threw her off the team, causing her to lose her housing, and also disabled her game film when she sought to transfer, which sounds awfully petty.
It's Tyler Summitt all over again, but will it get the same amount of notoriety because this guy's mother isn't a famous coach, or will all the shame etc. fall on the young woman?

The hotel should require ID when someone comes up and says they lost their room key. But it probably is their policy and the desk clerk didn't follow it. Or if they gave it to the practice player initially, that should have triggered something when the assistant coach came up and asked for his initial key when one had already been given out.

Yep. Lots of weird things in this.
