I love how twistedly the Republicans throw out the "2 different standards of justice" defense, citing slow-walking of the Hunter Biden investigation, while Trump's prosecution is being railroaded on through - as IFF the 2 are perfectly equivalent.
Now, HERE'S a perfect example of a REPUBLICAN (whose criminal actions make him look like Shirley Temple next to Trump) who DID get a fair trial AND a fair sentence. Now, as in, 2 months ago.
Larry Householder, a prominent politician, speaker of the house in Ohio, screwed people for 6 million dollars. (which Trump does every Thursday or so....) and he's already in jail. Now, THERE'S a double (triple? quadruple?) standard. One bastard gets nailed and is in jail, the other, far more egregious bastard is still not in jail and actually running for president of the USA.

It's letting the Racketeer-in-Chief off too easily to dismiss him as a moron.
I'm rooting for you big time, Georgia. Let's go!

Make no mistake, this is why the GOP is dead set against ending cash bail. Without it all the conspirators would be in jail awaiting trial. They don't care about keeping poor crooks off the street, they just want to keep rich ones from being stuck behind bars.

This little trailer (from a 90 min. documentary) can lead you to that answer. Interestingly enough, this was made BEFORE 2016, when the Ugly One threw a match into the vitriol-soaked mess.
The entire documentary is deserving of your time; I learned so many things about American politics I never knew.

Michael Cohen-

“Donald’s theory right now, the only out for him, both financially, as well as criminally, regarding incarceration, is if he wins the election,” Cohen said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House.”
“He’s not running for the presidency of the United States to do good for the United States, he wants to do — and the only way he can do good — for himself, is to win the presidency,” he added. |

This is also an interesting article. Explains his different options for appeal and bonds and bankruptcy. I can't wait for him to crash and burn.

Quote: |
Defendants in Trump's position quickly become vulnerable to collection actions even during an appeal − unless they can secure what's called an appeal bond or place a cash deposit with the court that, with interest, typically exceeds the amount of the judgment. In the real estate fraud case, that means Trump would have to produce hundreds of millions of dollars up front in cash or property — unless someone agrees to give him an appeal bond for less — to guarantee James' ability to collect later if his promised appeal fails. |

Why do evangelicals support Trump. I've wondered this for 8 years. I almost put in my last post that I don't want to hear the words "christian values" come out of the mouths of anyone that votes for Trump.

How does Trump convince voters who say they consider their faith when casting ballots to look his way and say, yeah, that’s my kind of guy?
I asked some people who would know. The consensus: many evangelicals don’t need Trump to be a person of faith – or even a good person – if they feel like he has their backs. |

AP Votecast, a survey of the American electorate by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago for media partners including the USA TODAY Network, found Trump won the support of 8 in 10 white evangelical Christian voters in 2020, an echo of his support from that group four years earlier. |

This is a direct question I've asked any number of Evangelical Trump supporters that I may know. Many respond with, "Well, throughout the Bible, God often chose flawed/sinful people to accomplish good things." One example among several: King David was an adulterer who had his neighbor's husband killed so HE could have the beautiful Bathsheba for himself. King David went on to be the progenitor of Jesus, and he's continued to be an admired patriarch of the Judeo/Chiristian values.
If that sounds like a logical analogy, don't buy it: THERE'S ONE ENORMOUS DIFFERENCE between King David and (any of their other examples) and their Beloved Trump-hole:
THESE FLAWED PATRIARCHS WERE PENITENT AND CONTRITE MEN WHO ADMITTED THEIR WRONG-DOINGS AND BEGGED FORGIVENESS: ANALOGY IS DEAD ON ARRIVAL.
One can't really expect strong logic from people who view the Bible as historical truth rather than the book of mythology that it is. But - in their beady little minds - they don't NEED valid logic.

Like this?
Quote: |
Erick Erickson, a conservative broadcaster and pundit, cited in that 2016 debate Trump’s adultery, his various business schemes that left fans fleeced and workers unpaid as reasons for evangelicals to reject him.
Add to that, Erickson said, Trump’s own assertion on the campaign trail that year that he had never asked God for forgiveness. Erickson called that a failure of “Christianity 101.”
Erickson’s caustic criticism was washed out by evangelical support for Trump that year. The pundit reversed course in 2019 and endorsed Trump’s bid for a second term. |

Even if he's convicted +/- prison time, that won't keep him off the ballot, will it?

Probably not, although the GOP convention might get really weird.

I saw a headline that said he could still run, but he wouldn't be able to vote.

A verdict has been reached.
I'm thinking they will find him not guilty. I don't agree with that, just my guess.

It seems unlikely he'll get jail time. Probation so that he can't leave the state might be amusing.
