Wild that I could move to the US and get a season of WNBA basketball for less in four cities than London Lions wanted for a year of blowouts and occasional European games. I'd be fascinated to know how many people actually shelled out the 190 quid here. You can get single-game tickets for all their upcoming games - including a couple of double-headers with the men's team - for £5. They definitely aren't playing 38 home games this year...

ETA: $630 for the absolute cheapest ticket in Seattle is nuts too.

Was talking to my Storm rep the other day and they had something like an 87% renewal rate right now. I was trying to upgrade my seats and the pickings were slim to none. So the high prices aren't hurting them.

And the $672 per year comes out to $32 per game, which really is not much.

I agree that it's not that much in a vacuum to pay for a ticket to a sporting event. But factoring in what ought to be a discount for paying for a full 20+ games in advance in one go, and that it's the absolute cheapest ticket in the building, it feels like quite a lot to me for the WNBA. And awhom111's table of prices around the league seems to agree.

Kayla Thornton made her debut for Dynamo Kursk. There could be prioritization concerns for her and Billings.

Yeah, the whole group stage felt like they'd learned from last year, when the target was clearly making it through to the knock-out stages, sacrificing seeding to make sure that was achieved. This year they kept pushing (although strength of the group is obviously a big part of it too).

More staggered by Caledonia somehow finishing 10th overall. With what, based on the roster, must be a fraction of the budget London are spending.

We're all rooting for a Caledonia v. Lions matchup now!
