Easterling played for the Chicago Hustle her whole career - not sure why they didn't say that. I had a minor crush on her, in part as a reaction to what I saw as overhyping the cute blonde, Janie Fincher; Rita was a long-haired brunette. And she was good on the court.

Doug Bruno left DePaul to coach the Hustle its first two years. It was a bummer when the WBL went under. Sad

I'm not familiar with Easterling but from the little I can find about her it appears she was one of the best point guards in the world during her era. Any insight on why she never played for the National team?

It is unfortunate that so many of those players didn't go further during that era. I can only speculate since I didn't follow closely what happened to those young ladies afterwards (shoot, I see we're in the same age range! Laughing). I didn't follow college bball and there weren't as many opportunities back then, which is unfortunate. She went back home to her alma mater, Mississippi College, to coach.

Her individual college rivalry with fellow All-American Lusia “Lucy” Harris from Gulf South Conference foe Delta State made the DSU-Mississippi College games among the most widely-watched in the state.
