Orlando does it again. That's back to back games they refuse to release attendance numbers. SO PATHETIC
Neither the team nor the league released numbers from October 29, but an Orlando Pride beat writer got back to me by email. Season high for the Pride from Oct 29 at 5,755. The only match they didn't release is from October 9. HOPEFULLY ESPN finds it and reports. ESPN has been pretty good about reporting when the league doesn't (how sad is that) as I got the Houston match from September 1 just a couple day ago.

Really bad look for the NWSL to not report numbers. However, weren't there a few WNBA games that didn't have reported attendance this year? The Fever didn't post any numbers this year. And for whatever reason the Sky never reported their final game on September 19 nor for their playoff game on October 6

Most of the games have been reported now---just 2 games in Portland in June are all that are zeros.

2022 start. Angel City sold-out their opener(22,000). Portland had 13,000+. NWSL sucking again at posting full box scores.

At least the attendance numbers are out. Through 6 games, league is averaging 10,151.
Angel City opened at 22,000 and have sold 15,000+ season tickets.
Houston opened at 7,722 one of their biggest ever.
Portland opened at 13,672
Orlando was paltry at just 4,304
Chicago was as well with just 3,028
Washington opened at 10,177
Not a bad start---now just need to maintain it.

And they are at it again. No attendance figure released for the San Diego home opener vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC. F-ing pathetic.

San Diego website reported their home opener at 5,000
Orlando Pride reported their ROAD game at Angel City (ACFC FAIL!) at 17,510

So far, through games of July 9, all games have reported attendance.
NWSL is averaging an all-time high right now of 7,550, besting 2019's season average of 7,386.
Some teams are doing well---Angel City, obviously. Houston is at it higest since 2015, OL Reign is at an all-time high, Kansas City is almost 2,000 a game ahead of last year, San Diego is selling out or near selling out, and Gotham of all teams is 2,200 ahead and at an all-time high.
Of course not everyone is doing well, especially Chicago at about 3,100
All in all, the league is on pace to draw just a tick under 1,000,000 fans for the season. LOVE IT

No surprise the NWSL is drawing better than the WNBA currently. WNBA needs an ownership group like Angel City FC, San Diego and Portland.

I find it rather pathetic when the home team doesn't release an attendance figure, but the road team does.
San Diego couldn't bring themselves to reveal their August 7 match versus Kansas City was the lowest attended game for them of the year--it took 3 days, but the Kansas City Current website had the number---4,471. Maybe next week when San Diego opens SnapDragon, more folks will show up. One can hope.

The two largest crowds in NWSL playoff history happened this weekend.
10/15: 21,284 @ Houston
10/16: 26,215 @ San Diego

That sight doesn't have the Chicago match from April 15. The league site, Chicago Red Stars site nor ESPN have it but the Kansas City Current site does and WOOF...not surprised they want to hide that number--just 2,356 bothered to show up. Chicago has some issues.
They also don't have San Diego's second match which was 17,000

Even with potential new owners coming in for Chicago, they have got to be a target for relocation.

Unless new Chicago owners can market the club correctly, unlike the present ones, I would agree that Chicago needs to move to a city where the fans want them. It would suck for the league to lose a major city like Chicago, but if the market isn't there, the market isn't there. Hello Las Vegas!

Chicago is in the same situation as the "soon to be announced" Boston franchise. There's no where feasible for them to play. I'm shocked Boston is (likely) returning and that the league picked them over the deep pocketed Tampa Bay group.

It depends on how much they can spend on rent. Fenway, Boston College, Harvard, Gillette, they could partner with Kraft and build a soccer specific stadium for the Revolution and the NWSL team. There are options and I would want to know how well funded the Boston group is. I hadn't heard anything about Tampa but if they are better funded they should get in over Boston. Of course where would Tampa play? There are stadium issues abound.

The Tampa Bay group was lead by the owner of the MLB's Devil Rays. He has deep pockets, but the team is in danger of relocation due to not being able to get funding for a new stadium. So maybe that was a red flag for the NWSL.

Amateur hour with the NWSL again. August 27 North Carolina vs Chicago NO ATTENDANCE released. What is it about games being suspended that makes the league and teams not report attendance? Unlike the April 28 match in Houston (North Carolina involved as well), this match was finished 1-1....but no attendance reported. Inexcusable bush leagueness.
