These similarity scores produce some pretty wild results. They're also a great trip down memory lane.

Yes indeed, especially with Izzy Castro Marques! She was quick, aggressive and one of the original bball "black holes"! If you gave her the ball just know you were never getting it back!! Laughing

Always fun, even if they're nuts. How do Nneka Ogwumike and Monica Wright end up next to each other in someone's list? Seems bizarre that you could be similarly similar to those two, if you see what I mean.

It's still a very small data set. A little over 1000 players, about 20% of whom have 10 or fewer career games. I expect the results to improve as we get more players to compare to.

May need to adjust based on season length, if the league ever settles on how long they want the season to be.

You probably mentioned this at the time, but if so I've forgotten. Was there a specific player who was the WNBA's 1000th player? Or was it one of those where 20 people debuted on the same opening day so it was hard to tell who was 1000th?

Bernadett Hatar was the 1000th player

Tina Charles and Sue Bird are two players that I can't imagine being more dissimilar to each other. It seems impossible to me that one player could have both of those players on their similarity score.

Same for Castro Marquez and DeSouza: what the hell do they have in common, besides both being Brazilian?

that set of comps for Haley Jones is the weirdest thing I've ever seen for someone who's supposedly a point guard

All of this year's comps are weird. I think it's the extended season. It's hard to imagine a player less like Siegrist than Toni Young.

True. Toni was, uh, special. And I think Gwathmey is the only one of Siegrist's comps that eye-tests to be even remotely similar.
