since they 'terminated' Karlie's hardship contract, I assume they will now sign her to a ROS contract...but Richyyy can tell us if that is legal/within payroll, etc...

Assuming this means Stevens is ready to play.

Karlie Samuelson being released is related to Azura Stevens being ready to play. This waiving could be related to bringing in another player. (I think they have to because they have 11 counting Katie Lou).

Karlie Samuelson played a lot of minutes for a hardship signee. 23 mpg for 5 games. Her PER was by far the best of her career at 17.8 (league average is 15). Her previous best PER was 9.3 in 2018, also for the Sparks.

I have my fingers crossed for this as Karlie played really well!

Somewhat surprised that Holmes was waived. I was thinking it would be good to have a fifth post for security and release one of the five footers. By process of elimination, it was Clouden for me, as the rest (Layshia, Jordin, Lexie, Zia) have earned their spot and Jasmine will hopefully be coming back soon.

Los Angeles Sparks Re-Sign Karlie Samuelson

June 6, 2023

LOS ANGELES (June 6, 2023) – The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the re-signing of Karlie Samuelson to a rest of season contract.

Samuelson has appeared in five games (one start) this season with the Sparks, where she’s averaged 9.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 23 minutes per game. She’s shooting 58.8% from behind the arc, good for 2nd in the WNBA, and 56.0% from the field.

Samuelson had a standout performance against the Las Vegas Aces on May 27, where she scored 13 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Through her first five games, she has a true-shooting percentage of 80.9%, leading all WNBA players."

Great news about Karlie. Only possible change I can see before the end of the season is waiving one of the guards to sign a post. Might be necessary given injury concerns with Chiney and Azura, as well as Dearica working her way back into form.

Who would you cut? They've all played relatively well this season.

Clouden. I realize she hasn't gotten many minutes and came into camp late, but by process of elimination, it's her.

Did it end up being Holmes ? I thought she gave LA some nice minutes when she played , Clouden has not seen 1 min of court time but i think she's Curt's protege as he drafted her in CONN . He's not cutting her.

Clouden has about 50 minutes of court time, including a start. She has appeared in 4 Sparks games so far.

Im hoping once McCowan returns we keep Kalani waive Joens and if we decide not to keep Kalani id give Joyner a look on the waiver wire she can keep up with the style of play in Dallas plus its her hometown. Come on Bibb move some pieces , Diamond injured , Dangerfield Injured , LLS injured , Mccowan Injured.

As much as I like Destanni and want there to be a place for her in the league; I don't get this. They have exactly 3 playable frontcourt players and Thomas, Cooke and Clouden collectively played 14 minutes in their last game. What do they need with another tiny guard when they so obviously need post depth?

Clouden and Brown are out for tonight’s game. Clarendon is out for a while. Thomas is questionable for tonight, too.
