Tennessee. Runner up in the SEC tournament. Net ranking is 15, SOS is 1.
Absolutely deserve a 4 seed and host in Knoxville

Tennessee put up a fight for a good chunk of the game. It has been nice to see them start to put it together. Did they say they are now the 17th seed?
So happy that the Gamecocks got it done!! More work to do! Let's goooo!!!

There's a lesson to be learned, but it's not a pretty one.
Tenn played a murderous OOC schedule and lost seven of them. And what did it get them? Nothing. Out of the rankings most of the year and struggling to make the top 16 and a chance to host the first weekend.
Meanwhile LSU played absolutely nobody and apparently remains in the running for a #1 seed. And while their conference performances are pretty close, LSU will undoubtedly be seeded WAY above Tenn based entirely on their gaudy OOC record.
The Committee every years babbles on about "penalizing" teams for cupcake OOC schedules, but they lie. They have never penalized anyone that I can tell. And the fact that LSU and Utah are where they are this year, and will probably both end up in the top 8, is a testament to the fact that cowardice continues to be rewarded by people too lazy to look beyond gaudy records.
So when top tier P5 teams simply say "ok, line me up a dozen of the weakest teams in the worst mid major conferences" nobody should be surprised or criticize them. It's probably the smart move because there's nothing to be gained and much to lose by playing games the fans would actually like to see.

Art, you are so damn RIGHT, and it pisses me off no end. The stupid, mindless AP voters and the equally mindless selection committee all need to be kicked in their collective heads for babbling one thing and doing the exact opposite.
It did do me no end of good to watch Kim’s cupcake schedule bite her in the pink pleather butt last night though
Also, arguing a little bit from the side of the mid-major that’s on the other side of the scheduling (JMU) and has on occasion actually beaten a P5 team, it can be good training for a good mid. MTSU has on occasion taken out a P5, I think. So there’s that.

Tennessee played great throughout the tournament and for most of the year. They should be congratulated immensely for their courage and efforts!

The bottom line isn't how Tenn played (or not) today, because they played an overall good tournament punctuated by TO's and dumbass mistakes. The conclusion is that South Carolina is the top team in the country by a wide margin and no one else comes close.
