James Madison went down to Mobile hoping to break a small losing streak of three against cellar dwelling South Alabama. Coach O shook up the starting lineup, inserting Claire Neff and Kobe King-Hawea in place of Steph Ouderkirk and Kiki Jefferson, and it seemed to work as the Dukes put the Jaguars down, 77-65. Kiki Jefferson had a double-double for JMU with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Others scoring in double figures were Peyton McDaniel (14) and Kseniia Kozlova (1Cool. Refs for once did not go whistle-crazy but OTOH the game was not particularly chippy. One astounding feature was how badly the South Alabama announcers mangled King-Hawea's name. I don't think they ever got it right. I mean, how hard is that? At least they managed Kozlova but they didn't attempt her first name or nickname of Ksushya which probably would have choked them. Now on to GA State, who beat us at home, for a little revenge.

JMU finished their road trip today but it wasn’t a good day. They were in Statesboro for a gane with Georgia Southern, which had beaten them earlier in Harrisonburg. Another day, but same result, GA Southern winning 72-61 in a very chippy game with some questionable refereeing. The GA Southern players are, IMNSHO, a bunch of flop drama queens. But it also doesn’t help when your opponent shoots 70% from 3 and your 3s don’t fall….

Columbia couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from inside the barn against Princeton today, falling 74-56 at a packed Levien Gymnasium to even the season series with the Tigers. Princeton controlled the pace for long stretches, and I am utterly astounded at Megan Griffith's inability to use her timeouts effectively. Also: LAY-UP DRILLS FOR ONE THOUSAND YEARS.

I am very much looking forward to a potential rubber match in the Ivy League tournament... at Jadwin Gymnasium. 2-BID THE IVY YOU COWARDS.
