Awesome! So glad that A'ja made it!

Did anyone watch France vs. Canada? Looking at the recap (Thanks Awhom!), I'm trying to figure out if it was a great defensive match-up or were shots just not falling for anyone! Sheesh! Shocked

Why isn't Marine Johannes playing for France?

Looking forward to tonight's game--I didn't have ESPN+ (or whatever it was) for the previous USA games.

Unfortunately, Johannes got injured just before the tourney started:

Looking forward to the game too....but the time...waaaa! Laughing I think I'll be watching the replay.

Has she stopped celebrating enough to proceed to the hangover stage? I’m taking bets on whether her water bottle is going to contain water, champagne, Gatorade, or Four Loko.

Based on how she looked and sounded in that Twitter clip I’ll say she needs water and Gatorade stat!

Better to skip the commercials anyway! I usually prefer to do it that way, but I'm going to watch live tonight: I'm a night owl, plus this should be some nice methadone for my WNBA withdrawal!

Thanks for the Johannes info.

Team USA up 19 at the half over China. USA with outstanding 3 point shooting and great balanced scoring.

Great persistence by China to fight back from a couple of big deficits.
USA still far too good though.

The jetlag from USA to Australia really is a bitch. What Thomas, Gray & Wilson have managed is so impressive.

Indeed! Let's show some love for Bri Jones too Wink

There were some errant miscues and dropped passes by USA, although that is to be expected since this is the first time the entire team has played together in a game. The play of the game was a ridiculous block by Stewie that led to a ridiculous although, maybe now we should say a regular shot for Gray.

I've been most impressed with AT though, there were some question marks about her ability to be an effective four in FIBA games, but she has answered all questions so far. She seems to be everywhere on the court defensively and offensively. I haven't seen a USA player do that since Catchings was in her prime.

Did Rupert attend the parade? She suited up for France's first game.

I hope nobody is making Despina Barton glaring mistakes a drinking game. Even Andrew Gaze is not classy-ing up the joint. Azania Stewart is hilarious as always, but I think Shona Thorburn sometimes forgets that she's on play-by-play and not color-commentary.

Few things are more consistently baffling in basketball than China's steadfast reluctance to even experiment with a few minutes of Li and Han together in a settled game.

Opals delivered on the defense-oriented identity they've been preaching this year. Crucial win over Serbia.
It may have come at a heavy price though - Whitcomb with a possible broken nose (she was able to return to the court to play a crucial role down the stretch), and Allen with suspected broken rib(s) - needing a wheelchair to exit the arena after probably being game MVP for her work at both ends.
Tolo replaced Magbegor in the starting 5 and played a big part in the win, and Talbot was the other standout.

Canada looking good to finish top of the group after comfortably taking care of business vs Japan. I was really hoping for a 4OT marathon to wear out Canada before we play them tomorrow.

Absolute dream tournament for Canada so far. 3-0 and they haven't even played Mali yet. Japan, on the other hand, looking in real danger of going out in the group stage.

I know she’s pretty small for a 2, but what are the chances we will see Nirra Fields in the WNBA again?

Do you have a video of what happened to Sami and Allen? I cant watch games back. And how is LJ playing? Can she still play at this level and contribute? I saw 9 pts in 10 min

Man ... what a game. Opals scrape past Canada to keep alive the possibility of finishing top 2 in the group. Talbot & Magbegor in particular were huge, Whitcomb also played a big role.

I'll cap it when I get the chance, but Youtube will probably take it straight down.
LJ does have something to offer still, but is limited in what she can do and how long she can do it for. But the fighting spirit is still there (and valuable to help set the tone for this team) and she can still knock down an open 3.

Mali players fight each other at Basketball World Cup

The tournament has been hugely frustrating for the Malians, who are one of two sides at the 12-team finals to have yet to win a game, following previous losses against Japan, hosts Australia and France.

Only item I've seen throughout the entire tournament on the BBC website was that thing on the Mali players fighting. The joy of mainstream British basketball coverage...
