I am never sure what section to post this thread in.

The United States national championship is this weekend with the goal of picking players for teams under the USA Basketball banner led by Jennifer Rizzotti.

As usual, a number of colleges were invited to send teams and rosters should populate fully here closer to the tournament:

Jordan Agustus... jesus, there's a name I haven't heard in a *long* time. She started at St. John's, bounced around a little bit, never could seem to get it together. I remember Gabby Cajou from Manhattan, too- bitty little thing but a real spitfire.

Kara Lawson is in charge for the big event as the World Cup roster is Van Lith, Joens, Burdick, and Cox:

The interesting scheme will be when Van Lith is the one taking a seat.

If Cox is playing 3x3, some savvy GM may want to pick her up.

Van Lith helps the United States get an overtime win so the knockout round bracket looks like this:

Burdick will join Linnae Harper, Breanna Richardson, and Kayla Wells in the first Women's Series stop for the United States in Poitiers under the direct of Jennifer Rizzotti.

Force 10 has six teams under their banner this year including two Seattle teams. The other WNBA teams sponsoring a team each are Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, and Indiana.

Players competed in Chicago to get ready for Red Bull events:

Those teams then joined six others for the first Red Bull event in Memphis with none of the Force 10 teams losing to non-Force 10 teams:

The United States loses to Germany in the final in Poitiers:

They are not listed as a team in the next three events, but the field for Edmonton after that has not been announced yet and that seems like a likely destination.

Force 10 provided 6 of the 8 teams in Oklahoma City, and it was Indiana that at least got a win for one team:

The only teams in Minneapolis were four of the six Force 10 teams so they played each other and Connecticut prevailed:

The United States wins their first Women's Series event this year in Quebec. It was Joanne Allen-Taylor, Cierra Burdick, Lauren Cox, and Breanna Richardson for this tournament.

Force 10 claims that this is the last event they are fielding teams for as Red Bull held an event in Boston and they were four of the six teams. Seattle won over Texas in the final.

The Burdick, Cox, Harper, Richardson combo played together in the final tournament and had a good run in group play, but lost to France in the semifinals:

There was no women's competition at the Red Bull stop in Washington, but five teams signed up to play in the last tournament in Atlanta. Elite Beauties had the biggest names and ended up winning all of their games:

I have seen NaLyssa Smith listed at 6-4
I have seen NaLyssa Smith listed at 6-2
So I now feel a sense of finality and closure seeing NaLyssa Smith listed at 6-3

Zimmerman finished up a great career at Columbia a few years ago now. Wonder if she’ll ever be seen as good enough for a W team to invite her to Camp.
