Coop had no reason to be humble. She had already played with the proverbial consensus best all around player at the collegiate level in Cheryl Miller. Who was gonna intimidate her after Cheryl?

I would have loved! to see Cheryl square off against Tina Hutchinson. Cheryl was supposed to have been more polished defensively. However, even though Cheryl might have occasional offensive explosions (105 points in a high school game!), Tina may have been more consistent offensively at her very best. Remember, there was no 3-point shot when these ladies were at their best!!!

The link by the OP is a collection of excerpts from the khuckleheads pod cast featuring Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson. Obviously they feature WNBA and NBA stars.

They asked Lisa Leslie this question and she had an insightful response. She was in NY prepping for a modeling career. She figured the WNBA would be like a summer pro Am league so she didn’t really take it as something serious in the way of conditioning and working out. They she played the Liberty. It opened her eyes to what the league should be and the work she needed to do

Cooper, of course took it serious from day one. In her segment with ‘Knuckleheads’ she told her that Van Chancellor would get mad at her because Coop would be their on rookie training day, already sweating from working out for an hour just to show the newbies the dedication it would take to be a Comet. She also said she didn’t play defense. Her job on that end of the court was containment.
