I expected Maryland's roster to be depleted... but not their effort. Confused

are they missing someone other than Benzan? I saw something that she missed Baylor game with "illness". Does that mean she didn't even make the trip?

Correct, Benzan didn't make the trip due to non-covid illness. Same with Faith Masonus. Diamond Milelr is also out due to the same lingering knee injury.

myrtle you should have started Diamond Johnson!!! 11pts on 5-10 shooting with 4 rebs, 5 ast, 4 steals. At halftime!!!

yeah, it's difficult since she really only gets starter type minutes when someone else is out for some reason - here because of the fouls on Crutchfield.

Don’t know where you’re getting this info that the first two are out due to “non-covid” illnesses. If you have an unpublished but reliable source I’d be interested in knowing that.

Here in the DMV, the only words being used are “undisclosed illnesses”. I’m betting that both of them are in covid quarantine. Given the length of their absences from the team, nothing else makes sense. That’s just my opinion.

You could be right -- I certainly may have misinterpreted things. Here is a tweet I saw, which reads:

Quote:
No. 3 Maryland will continue to be shorthanded as they head to the Bahamas. Guard Katie Benzan and forward Faith Masonius are not traveling due to undisclosed illnesses. Benzan missed Sunday's game against Baylor. Masonius has missed the last three games.

Interesting twist on the wording. I think in WBB, they had always said "Covid protocol" which left it open as to whether the athlete was sick or known exposure to Covid. I hope they're checking for signs of myocarditis in athletes who test positive.
