Going into the Olympic break, the Mystics are in 8th (playoff) ONE game out of 5th place! They were fortunate to play fewer games than many teams have so have more space to make up the difference after the break.

We will definitely have
Tina Charles
Natasha Cloud
Ariel Atkins
Myisha Hines-Allen
Shatori Walker Kimbrough (we got back the player we had to give up to get Tina)
Theresa Plaisance
Sydney Weise
Leilani Mitchell
Shavonte Zellous

We will also have 2 or 3 of the following:
Elena Delle Donne
Emma Meeseman
Erica McCall
Megan Gustafson

Without Elena and Emma, we're a playoff team. With either of them, we are a team competing for the Championship.

We have Coach & GM Mike T and nobody else does.

Elena will not play Sunday. She's practicing five on five and will likely see some minutes very soon.

GO MYSTICS!

Emma Meesseman opts to rest after Olympics instead of rejoining Washington Mystics this season

Foreign players pretty much never skip the pre-Olympic part of the season then show up afterwards

Agree, but also wonder whether she planned to do this all along or whether the amount of money the Mystics have to offer her wasn't enough to make it worth it on her end.

Also, as much as I love having Tina Charles, this team is lopsided in terms of frontcourt versus backcourt talent. If Alysha Clark comes back at full strength next year that could be evened out a little bit, but the Mystics' backcourt is a shell of what it was during the 2018 and 2019 years.

The way the Mystics hoarded a decent amount of cap space, even when shorthanded earlier in the year, does suggest they thought there was a chance of her coming. They may well always have known it was a small chance, but they've still got 77k of space. That's supermax money, pro-rated for the remainder of the season. It's pretty damn close to pro-rated supermax for the whole post-Olympic section of the season.

So I don't think they'd given up until fairly recently.

Indeed losing Powell and Kristi has been HUGE! Mitchell has been real inconsistent. Cloud has not been herself because of injury. MT cut the guard from NC State.(her name escapes me) So they need a guard the can break down the D, get to the hoop and hit the 3. That will open up Tina and take away the double team. Man it's refreshing to have EDD back. That WOMAN can HOOP!!!

PEACE & LOVE GO MYSTICS!!!!!

I almost dare to say that Emma would have shown up for the Mystics if she won a medal with Belgium. She missed out on that and that hit her and the team very hard. They also had to deal with some asshole journalists/sportscommentators when they got back which blew up in their faces a bit.
