I had read that Clark, Howard, and Whitcomb were planning to attend the celebration at the WH. Unfortunately, on Friday Clark tested positive for Covid. Whitcomb instead needed to get an MRI today for the ankle injury sustained yesterday. I don't think Howard made it. Langhorne attended and also spoke briefly about Force4Change, as she currently works for the team as the Director of Community Engagement. Looks like Tuck and Coach Hughes were able to attend as well.

I didnt know that she Sparks released her. Was it because Chiney came back from her injury? We werent going to play Wiliams anyway so why not. I think she is nice glue player. Who can hit some shots in limited minutes

With Chiney back, LA are back to 10 players and presumably ineligible for a hardship exception any more (unless they can get Vadeeva classed as 'injured'). So that may not have been an option for her any more, regardless. Honestly, if she gets a chance to play, you'll quickly grow to enjoy Karlie. May not be the most talented player in the world, but gives you everything and makes those little extra plays that teams need. And obviously can shoot when given the opportunity. |

Yeah, the signing itself may reek of nepotism, but she at least showed with LA that she can make an impact on the court – something Kiana Williams apparently just didn't do, and Cierra Burdick will never do yet inexplicably still has the chance to do. |
Perhaps it's also a move to incite loyalty to the franchise when contract extension negotiations start, presumably next season... Similar to how the Milwaukee Bucks conspicuously signed The Greek Freak's brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, to possibly give them a little extra edge in convincing Giannis to re-sign.. And if she's the last player on the bench, why not? |
KLS is hardly our best player though |
Clearly, but again, it's a house-money move, in that if it doesn't work out, they didn't lose much. But if it results in Katie-Lou being willing to take a little salary discount in the future to help out Seattle's cap, why not?

I certainly can't explain it, but here is the origin:
President Joe Biden goes off script during White House visit, gives Storm personal tour of Oval Office
Quote: |
Stewart turned heads and drew lots of attention from photographers while wearing an outfit put together by Puma creative designer June Ambrose.
The 6-foot-4 WNBA superstar wore a gray sports coat and a matching full-length skirt by Ryota Sakai over a white shirt and gray Thom Browne pants.
And Stewart capped the look with a pair of white Puma sneakers, which made sense considering she signed a signature shoe deal with Puma in May.
“I love the look,” Stewart said standing outside the White House. “But quite frankly, I’m really hot in this sun.” |

So Stewie basically joining the long list of celebrities who've signed a deal with a designer and then worn something awful because that designer provided it. Happens every year at award shows in Hollywood. |

As a LA fan I actually enjoyed watching Karlie. She’s one of those blue collar players that gets after it.

Inside the Seattle Storm's slump: Fatigue, missed shots and defensive drop-off have defending champs spiraling
Quote: |
On Friday night, [Head Coach Noelle] Quinn admitted her team is struggling with fatigue -- both mental and physical.
...Still, [Breanna] Stewart didn't want to hear anything about the mental and physical toll at this stage of the season.
"I don't think it's fatigue, and also fatigue is not an option right now because we're in our final push," she said Friday. "So everybody needs to be doing what they have to do individually to make sure that they're ready, their bodies are ready to go and also the mind over matter thing." |
And those soundbites were before our lopsided Sunday defeat to the same team. Yeesh.
The thing about fatigue is, it negatively affects everything out there on the court: defense, shot-making ability, and overall composure. Stewie's probably just saving face here by publicly being a fatigue denier, but knowing how driven she is & how consistently lofty her expectations are, it's honestly possible that she may not even know that she herself has it – and it's not exactly something you can just "push through." It's kind of like after a hard day at work, you come home and have a seat on the couch, and that's when the exhaustion really hits you – when you finally enter some state of rest. That in a nutshell is what I wish the whole team would do. Acknowledge you need a breather, take a breather, and go from there.

Ooooooooop. Welp, I hope we use that #8 Pick we're about to receive next Draft wisely. Probably not though...
DAMN! Get well soon, Stewie. At least you get to spend a few extra days with your new family now.

Wow, will the Storm even win their first round playoff game if Stewie isn’t available?

Will this likely remove Stewart from MVP consideration?

She’ll miss a total of 4 games. So if you don’t believe missing 5 games hurts JJones, missing 4 games shouldn’t hurt Stewart. Maybe the combination of missing 4 games and the low end FG% kills her chances, especially with better candidates available. Griner is my top candidate. The head-to-head matchup tonight might be the validating factor.

MVP this season is CLEARLY JJ. I appreciate Griner finally applying herself fully but she has another contender on her own team (Diggins-Smith). As far as numbers and impact THIS season, it's JJ, then Griner, then Tina Charles. The Mystics are too low in the standings for Tina. If the Mystics were higher, it would be between JJ & Tina - then Griner.
You can keep leaving JJ off the little stat comparisons until the cows come home but it won't change the fact that JJ is MVP this season.
