Gabe K's hair seems surprisingly subdued...

Allright, who can name all the actors and characters, and who knows what Gabe Kaplan is doing with his life now?

Okay, so the important question is... does any movie John Travolta made before Grease really even matter? For that matter, any movie after Grease?

In 1986, Kaplan was the guest comedian at the Columbus Torah Academy's annual fundraising dinner. Lets just say he did not mix well with the Orthodox members. The following year, David Brenner was chosen.

thanks for the compliment, blue, but since i got the aches and pains to prove it, i'm gonna flaunt it - i said "only 47" 'cause i have some good mileage on old BL.

speaking of which, you know you've hit that mark when you go on a trip and, when you weren't looking, your big old cosmetics bag and your little baggie of medications became . . . reversed!

remember these? this one's modern, but i think they called 'em train cases.

So let's recap what we have learned today:

--Sebibb and Blue are older than SFO.
--John Travolta has been in a a collection of good movies, but really isn't that good of an actor.
--I'm like 5 years old.
--Tank tops were a regular in Cam's college wardrobe, and likely still are today.
--Travolta is still important enough to hijack a BL thread, even on a WNBA board.
--None of this helps me on my stats test in an hour from now.
--I more or less only have to stay awake to pass anyway, or sleep with the hideous teacher, if I wanted to follow the Cam method, luckily, I am smart enough to avoid these issues.

We are all better for having had this conversation, or at least I am 95% confident that the variation in being better for having had this conversation can be explained by the variables involved in John Travolta movies... now I'm set.

I think I just saw that Gabe is doing some commentating for some sort of poker tournament.

Welcome Back Kotter was on when I was in grade school, but I still remember it pretty well. However, TV from the 1980s is more of my specialty.

--Sebibb and Blue are older than SFO.
but i'm sure we're not alone. (i'm personally suspicious of dts' claim.) i promised myself - back when i was your age, sonny - that i'd never lie about my age. so far, so good. but check back with me on that in six months.

--John Travolta has been in a a collection of good movies, but really isn't that good of an actor.
on the contrary. but i personally think he didn't become a good actor until the tarantino flicks.

--I'm like 5 years old.
yet you're wise beyond your years, just for making that observation.

--Tank tops were a regular in Cam's college wardrobe, and likely still are today.
my guess, too.

--Travolta is still important enough to hijack a BL thread, even on a WNBA board.
sadly, true.

--None of this helps me on my stats test in an hour from now.
you're on your own. but we're rooting for you.

More law school than undergrad. But yes, at the gym and at bars, they still are a part of the wardrobe.

Nah, only gonna be 42 in a couple of months...but no one still can identify Lawrence Hilton Jacobs as Freddy Boom Boom Washington? Or Ron Pallillo as Arnold Horshack.

And Gabe Kaplan is a professional card player. I believe blackjack.

Like JT- but Ladder 49 is a real snoozer. The name David Brenner is a blast from the past!

Two errors from the mean? That's darn confident, alepp! The more common likelihood that the true answer lies within one margin of error is 68%, LOL.

That you can remember the actors' names is proof enough that you are still on the far side of the approach to 50, dts..

Which I can remember nothing about, of course, being a youthful appearing 49 Wink ...

I replied earlier but will add what I do remember that has not been listed yet.

Marcia Strassman as Mrs. Kotter (later in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids movies)
Robertt Heyges as Epstein (later on Cagney and Lacey)
Debralee Scott as Rosalie (later on Angie with Doris Roberts and Donna Pescow)
Vernee Watson as Verna (later as Will's mom on Fresh Prince)
John Sylvester White as Mr. Woodman

Gopher5, as do I, you have too much spare time on your hands if you remember all those! A++++ with extra credit for the subsequent roles. And of course Vernee can be seen on every freaking commercial known to man these days. I think she's pushing Aleve, Tylenol, and Aspirin!

I noticed that with the commercials too, but could not remember the products.
