also, wtf Syracuse, are we about to learn the Portuguese for "where is everybody?"

To be fair, Lewis, Finklea-Guity and Strautmane are all 4th year players, so in any other year they would just be graduating and would be gone anyway. Despite all the defections, Hillsman still has 13 scholarship players next year at this point. However, outside of Cardoso and Williams, none of them are obvious starters. It's definitely looking like a rebuild year at the best.

I was sitting socially distanced from Digna Strautmane at a bar last night. I almost went up and asked her what was going on with the 10 players in the transfer portal, but I was drinking vodka last night. Had I been on bourbon, I think I might have asked. Lololol

Koi Love is in portal out of Vanderbilt. Wonder if Kara is in on her? Also wondering if plans are in place for White to slide over to Geralds coaching team (maybe sooner than later).

Per Raoul, there are now 723 transfers this year (234 of the grad transfer variety), with 133 already selecting new schools and leaving us with 590 left to figure it out. You know there are more to come as well.

It is also noted that 272 D1 schools that have had at least one transfer. In other words, 75% of schools have been affected by transfers so far this season. I haven't been able to find the "Raoul" on the men's side yet but I am very curious as to how high that number is for them right now.

They actually still have 11 on scholly for next year: 5 sophomores, 5 incoming freshmen and a grad transfer (Shalexxus Aaron from Southern Cal). But I'm sure Johnson would be very welcome there.

In other news, Jordyn Oliver is leaving Baylor.

Koi Love in the portal at Vanderbilt. Not a good sign for Stephanie White.

Karissa McLaughlin transferring from Purdue to DePaul. She is an amazing 3 point shooter so the program should be a good fit for her. She was recovering from an injury for much of this year, and is one of many in the gigantic Purdue Exodus happening in light of the coaching news.

Oh my gosh Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Marquette!!! Would you believe me if I said I'm exhausted and I subconsciously substituted the name of one Big East team for another? Because that's what happened. Laughing Apologies for the confusion, and I think this is a sign I should log off and take a nap Laughing

I figured you meant Marquette - just had to have a little fun Smile. Glad to hear she's a good 3 point shooter - MU really needs that even if she's only here for one season.

You are being kind of dramatic here I think. 3 of the 5 in the portal are grad transfers. Harmon, a soph, hardly saw the floor. The big one is Traylor. McLaughlin will be missed as she is a great shooter but she is a graduate and in the last few years, grad transfers have been huge in both men's and women's basketball.

Alabama, fresh off an NCAA Tourney win has 4 transfers, 1 a grad transfer
App State with 5 transfers (1 grad)
Arkansas, fresh off an NCAA Tourney appearance has 5 transfers, including 3 grad transfers
Arkansas State with 6 transfers, 1 grad
Austin Peay with 5, all grad transfers
Butler with 4, 2 grad transfers
Cal State Northridge with 4 transfers
Canisius with 6 transfers, 1 grad
Chicago State with 6 transfers
Cincinnati with 6 transfers, 2 grad
Clemson with 7 transfers, 4 grad
Cleveland State with 4 transfers
Colorado with 3 transfers, no grad
Colorado State with 6 transfers, 3 grad

And those are just some in the A, B and C's...there are several other schools with a whole bunch of transfers this year. I haven't even gotten to teams like Duke, Syracuse, Illinois, UNLV, Texas Tech, West VA, etc that I know have at least 4 transfers as well.

I mean, it's pretty much everywhere.

Yeah, Purdue still only has 2 available scholarships for next year, at this point. Until more seniors decide to come back for next season, there are 14 Power 5 schools with at least 4 spots (if my info is right), as of right now:

4: Clemson, Iowa State, Miami, NC State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCLA
5: Baylor, Maryland, Oregon State
6: Texas Tech
7: Mississippi State
8: Duke

Very Odd...You would think she would at the very least do a lateral transfer... guess it has more to do with the degree she is pursuing and not BBall.

Very surprising to me. I thought there was a ton of praise for her GCU coach Molly Miller too! Katie Scott goes into transfer portal

Jaelynn Penn of Indiana looking to transfer. Received 2nd-team and honorable mention all-conference honors in previous seasons. She was already a senior but dealt with lingering injuries from a foot surgery and opted out mid-season. I think that explains why her numbers were down a bit this year. She likely would have been granted an extra year of eligibility anyway, but with COVID she gets one automatically. Very solid all-around player. IU could have really used her shooting, for example, in that Elite Eight game where they failed to make a single 3-point shot Rolling Eyes
