And USF is the University of San Francisco ... |
And UT, to me, is the University of Texas, probably because I lived in Austin for two years. So, for Tennessee, I tend to write UTenn or UTK.
What school is UD? |
Whereas to me, UT will forever be Tennessee. Go Vols! #VFL
UD is University of Delaware (CAA).

well NCState showed why they really aren't a #1 this year. They can win big games and can lose them too.
So tomorrow's game will be for #1.

For how long? |
If UConn wins, I don't see them losing any BEC regular season or conference games. S.Car., on the other hand, has some remaining games against ranked SEC teams and then a tough conference tournament. |

If Stanford ends up as the #5 team, so the best 2 seed, I'll be happier to see either of the ACC teams as the 1 seed in our bracket rather than UConn or SoCaro.

How do the conferences fare in the week 12 poll?
Giving 25 points for the #1 ranking down to one point for the #25 ranking, the conferences' total points are below. (The numbers in parentheses are the conferences' total points in the prior four weeks' polls.)
SEC = 25+20+10+8+6+2 = 71 (75) (73) (77) (78)
P12 = 21+18+16+15 = 70 (72) (72) (70) (75)
B10 = 17+14+14+11+5 = 61 (57) (58) (58) (53)
ACC = 23+22 = 45 (47) (49) (52) (49)
BEC = 24+4 = 28 (29) (32) (31) (29)
B12 = 19+7 = 26 (23) (19) (19) (25)
AAC = 12 (13) (12) (10)
WCC = 9 (7) (8) (6) (6)
SUM = 3 (3) (1)
MVC = 1 |

OSU is the Ohio State University. Sorry Oklahoma State and Oregon State. That's just the way it is.

depends on where you live. OSU on the west coast is definitely Oregon State.
so I just use OrSU, OkSU, and OhSU or tOSU.

Since Buckeyes always seem to emphasize "THE Ohio State University", I think tOSU is perfect....Unless you want to call it Buckeye State.

I do so wonder sometimes where the minds are of those being polled. SFA gets six votes?! They lost to Arizona State and Houston, not exactly powerhouses, in the preseason, and beat exactly nobody. I just don't get it.

Not a vote for the 3 P5 teams in Fla? The top team in Florida is USF and the only other Fla team getting a vote was FGCU. Those P-5 teams don't even have the guts to play their mid-major state foes. Sad.

I watched SFA play yesterday against the Sugar Bears of Central Ark. SFA not a good team, at least from what I saw yesterday. If they didnt trap Central Ark they were not doing anything in the game. CArk had 32 turnovers. Score was tied after 3 and CArk is an 8-12 team vs a 18-2 team. C Ark, blew up in 4th quarter. A lot of smack between some of the players too.
I have no idea how SFA got 6 votes in the AP poll.

How do the conferences fare in the week 15 poll?
Giving 25 points for the #1 ranking down to one point for the #25 ranking, the conferences' total points are below. (The numbers in parentheses are the conferences' total points in the prior seven weeks' polls.)
The SEC has pulled out to a dominant 26 point lead on the field this week lead by jumping up 11 points over last week while the P12 dropped 6 and the B10 dropped 5.
SEC = 24+19+13+12+10+9 = 87 (76) (71) (71) (75) (73) (77) (78)
P12 = 22+17+15+7 = 61 (67) (67) (70) (72) (72) (70) (75)
B10 = 18+16+14+4+2 = 54 (59) (61) (57) (58) (58) (53)
ACC = 23+21 = 44 (44) (45) (47) (49) (52) (49)
BEC = 25+1 = 26 (27) (32) (28) (29) (32) (31) (29)
B12 = 20+6 = 26 (27) (26) (26) (23) (19) (19) (25)
AAC = 11 (13) (14) (12) (13) (12) (10)
WCC = 8 (5) (10) (9) (7) (8) (6) (6)
SUM = 5 (4) (3) (3) (3) (1)
MVC = 3 (3) (1) (1) |

It's that time of year when most individual voters are too embroiled in group-think to make any significant changes to their rankings, regardless of impressive wins or questionable losses.

sad but true. Actually it starts pretty early in the season. It takes a major clusterf*ck to drop out of the poll once you're in it. They just tend to shuffle the deck.
