Among the many important messages, I'll just single out one: Just because Kobe or some other heroic figure does things one way and achieves a great deal doesn't mean that path is the only one that leads to success.

We each have to find our own way, and it's going to be different than someone else's.

I believe it really means a lot when someone in the public eye opens up as Wilson has. Like it or not, we live in a celebrity culture. So a statement like this one, from a star athlete, will have real meaning for some readers BECAUSE it's from a star athlete.
