Carter/Turner
CWilliams/Walker-Kimbrough/
Hayes/Stricklen/KDavis
ChParker/Hawkins/Billings/
EWilliams/KBrown
This roster is tough to figure out. It could be shifted around into different configurations, which they probably like.
I betcha they would love to find a sucker to take on Stricklen’s guaranteed $175K.
I dislike Hayes as a 3, but their three best players are guards.
Is EWill still a starter?
Is Hawkins ahead of Billings in the depth chart?
If they go PG at #3, Turner could be cut or shifted to SG.
If they go SG at #3, Turner could be kept as a backup PG.
Doesn’t really look like they’d draft a big wing with #3 even if Davis doesn’t stay.
If they go big with #3, then Brown most likely is the vulnerable one, although she’s doing alright overseass.
#15 pick could make this team.

There is no way #15 makes this roster - this is the weakest draft in years. The roster is tightening up, and I think in a good way. Many people are so dismissive of Tiffany - she is leaving her Spanish team through an undefeated season thus far; she was a former All W player and opted out last year....she will come to play! CW will be covid free; CC has more experience and confidence; Parker and Hawkins will bring experience and leadership. Should be fun!

I am guessing you meant to type "leading", not leaving, her Spanish team.
She will be coming to Atlanta with a lot of wear and tear as she gets fouled(many not called) a lot in the Spanish league. The good thing is her Spanish team plays a 10 player rotation a lot of minutes, per player. Tif is 2nd in mpg at 22.5mpg (KLS leads at 24.9mpg). I watch every game and she is knocked down a ton on her drives, but she is one of the best one on one player in the league.

And yet managers on better teams like the Sky and Aces are making moves to acquire upper second round picks in this draft.

It’s tightening up money-wise, because they overpaid for players like Stricklen.

I wasn’t being dismissive of her. I was just saying in general I don’t like under 6’ shooting guards at the SF position. I like a Maya type as a SF. Stricklen is the closest they have to Maya. Even though they’re paying her like she’s Maya, she’s the Harbor Freight drill with old nickle cadmium battery tech that nobody wants anymore version of Maya.

KLS is the actual leader of that team. Why do you think SEA traded the #1 pick for her?

We don’t have to dismiss her. She dismissed herself last year.

She kept Dream-ing
(Dream-ing)
Ooh, that some day she'd be a star
(A superstar, but she didn't get far)
But she sure found out the hard way
That Dreams don't always come true, oh no, uh uh
(Dreams don't always come true, uh uh, no, uh uh)
So she pawned all her hopes
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
And even sold her old car
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
Bought a one way ticket back to the life she once knew
Oh yes she did, she said on Twitter she would
Oh-oh, she's leaving
(Leaving)
On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah
(Leaving on a midnight train)
Said she's going back to find, ooh
(Going back to find)
A simpler place and time, ooh, yeah

Everyone would like to have that type of SF. There aren't very many of them.

It's been about a month now since LeBron James said that he would be interested in being part of a group to buy the Atlanta Dream. So, has anyone heard about how this is coming along? Is he still interested? Or was it all just talk and no action (which reminds me of the Toronto WNBA franchise proposal in 2019)? |
I expect we'll hear something very soon

The sale that has been imminent for weeks now is getting more imminent.

The three-member investor group is comprised of former Dream star Renee Montgomery, Northland President and Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Abair, and Gottesdiener. |
What the heck? Did she buy Bitcoin early? I didn’t think TMZ paid that well. Where’s she getting the money to buy into two leagues?
I’m guessing a very minority stake in both leagues, but enough to get some big businesswoman press.

Is this the first time that a former WNBA player owned (co-owned) a WNBA team?

No! Lisa Leslie was part owner of the Sparks with Paula Madison.

Which is why all the releases are very carefully saying that Montgomery "will be the first former player to become both an owner and executive of a WNBA team". I presume that Leslie never held an executive position. |

Congratulations Renee Montgomery! That is how you transition to a new career after your ball playing days are over.
