This is a very big game for Rutgers. Because the team was off for 6 weeks Rutgers has a thin resume. Even though they are #11 in the NET they are not a lock for the NCAA. On the other hand if they win out (including a win over Ohio St) and win the Big 10 tourney, they could still get a top 4 seed.

At the half, Michigan St 35 Rutgers 28. Now Rutgers has scored the first 8 points of the second half to take a 1 point lead.

Ariella Guirantes 1-9 and only 2 points

She has had a couple of nice assists anyway.

tied up at 46.

Mack is quite the character. Somehow she strikes me as more the typical Rutgers player.

Guirantes finally made a couple of shots!

Neither Clouden (1-12) nor Guirantes (3-15) hitting double figures is a shocker to me!

looks like Rutgers will win based on defense. Neither team looked stellar on offense.

Guirantes got two FT's at the end to give her 11. But yeah, both stars looked less than shiny.

Does anyone know the status of the official injured at the end of the game?

I turned it off right before it happened. I just went back to see what happened. Ouch. That was a serious collision. This says she was unconscious for a while but has full use of her extremities.

Mack looked like she was taunting MSU as she was jumping/jogging back to her team after the buzzer sounded. She certainly wasn’t facing the direction she was moving. Angie appeared to be looking across the court and didn’t see it coming.

Thanks for the update.

I didn’t get the impression that Mack was taunting. It all happened so fast. I just thought she was excited about winning and was running with her head turned away. Just bad luck that the official’s head was turned too so she didn’t see the collision coming.

Hope she’s alright. She went unconscious in an instant. Very scary. Mack was visably torn up over it.

Mack is clearly an emotional player. I too thought she was just celebrating the moment. And yeah - after it happened she was appropriately distraught at having caused such a thing.
